A puppy that was carelessly discarded like trash near the entrance to an apartment building was discovered by a woman. Unfortunately, the discovery wasn't in the nick of time.
A woman identified simply by 'H' tipped off media outlet Insight, "A puppy was cruelly abandoned just because it was sick. I hope that whoever owned the puppy will at least feel some sort of guilt."
The woman, who was reported to be in her 20's and reside in Incheon's Gyesan District, was shocked to find a puppy stowed away like garbage in a red paper bag and discarded near the entrance to her apartment complex this past August 19. For fear that the puppy may pass out in the excessive heat, 'H' tried to feed the puppy cold water but the puppy only threw it up and its breathing turned more ragged.
'H' attempted calling for the ambulance but was only told that "such an emergency is out of their jurisdiction." She was given the same response when she dialed a general citizen services number.
'H' was finally able to find help from Incheon Gyeyang District's animal services department, and the puppy was rescued by a veterinary clinic located in the vicinity, approximately two hours after it was found.
When Insight got in touch with the clinic for updates, the clinic reportedly informed the media outlet, "Sadly, the puppy left for a better place this morning (August 22). The puppy, whose breed we identified to be Maltese, was suffering from measles. If such a young pup catches the measles infection, then its chances of survival are slim to none. It's very unfortunate that it left the world in such a way."
