According to a June 23 report by The Korea Times, three couples in their 20s were arrested in Busan for allegedly resorting to prostitution when they ran short on cash.

The couples, who were reported to be unemployed, had headed to Busan in a rental car for purposes unknown. Sasang Police Station revealed that when they ran out of cash on their third day of travel, one of the men reportedly suggested prostitution as a way to earn cash. All of his companions took him up on the suggestion, and each person was given a role to play in the impromptu prostitution ring from obtaining clientele to selling their bodies.

Starting on June 13, the travelers engaged in the illegal prostitution for a total of seven days. The men reportedly found interested clients through messaging apps, charging them anywhere between 100,000 KRW to 200,000 KRW (~$87 to $175 USD) for their services. According to police, the couples profited around 3 million KRW (~$2,628 USD).

Authorities shut down the ring on Monday after monitoring the messaging apps and booked the couples without detention.

There's nothing wrong with prostitution, I mean who doesn't like sex? If enjoying having a ljavascript:void(0);ot of sex makes you a whore, then so be it, but Koreans aren't the only ones. And if you want to hear real Korean news, go to a Korean website.

I have been to Korea twice already and there are so many good things to talk about this country sorry. Itaewon is know for prostitution. We know no need to cover it here. Let's focus on the positive of this country. Lately all we hear is abuse, rape, suicide, prostitution c'mon!!!

Sorry, at least they reports crimes, I'm pretty sure it's 10 times worst in countries like China and India where crimes are not reported. and beside prostitution is banned and any one who engaged in this activity both clients & sellers were book for crime.

You should take that up with Allkpop, but if I could just make a side note here.. Allkpop does write positive stories about Korea, like everyday people helping the police, or cute stories about a little girl doing something nice for her older brother, they do write positive stuff. Maybe all the positive stuff gets etched out of your memory because of the negative stuff.

'Each person was given a role to play' so who did the dirty job? Males, females or both? 'The men reportedly found interested clients through messaging apps' they pimped their women only or did they service also? Story is unclear

I seriously see nothing wrong with prostitution as long as all parties involve are all consensual and is of legal age. Government should just legalize it and make it safe and get money off of it

Prostitution should definitely be legal, but big businesses will never allow small businesses to do with they want. It'll pretty much be a monopoly, but somehow they'll make that monopoly legal.

If you want to sell your body than its on you... A lot of people have one night stands, might as well make a profit out of it..  If it's forced than definitely jailed them, but otherwise I do not think people should get involved. IMO.
