A man in Busan was apprehended for his random and senseless beating of two women using a wooden support beam.
On May 25, 52-year-old Kim was witnessed beating a 78-year-old woman Jung countless times on her face, shoulders and body areas with a long, pointed piece of lumber. Jung suffered injuries to her face and shoulders, and Seo, the other woman who was victim of Kim's rage, split her head open. Both Seo and Jung are currently under treatment at a hospital.
Kim was restrained by four passersby who happened to be walking past the scene and handed over to the authorities. Kim asserted that he did not drink but a sobriety test conducted by the police proved his claim otherwise.
Kim only revealed that he is a "welfare recipient who lives alone," reportedly staying tight-lipped on the motive behind his violence.
Police intend to investigate the reasons behind Kim's violent outburst and request an arrest warrant against Kim for charges of assault.
