Last 'makgeolli dog' passes away + cruel owner reveals why she abused them

Buzz

This news will wrench your heart with grief, especially if you're an animal lover--you've been warned.

The health of Ginny, one of the dogs that were abused by its owner by being force-fed makgeolli (rice wine), has been on a steady decline ever since CARE (Coexistence of Animal Rights on Earth) rescued the pup last year.

Ginny was so weak that not even proper care, rest, and surgical procedures could salvage the dog's failing condition. Eventually, Ginny left for a better place in the afterlife. CARE relayed the tragic news on Facebook on March 29 with, "One morning in February of 2016, Ginny passed on to the afterlife with just one more surgery left ahead. Even breathing was hard after the abuse suffered from the owner, but we pray that the people-loving Ginny will be happy in heaven."

Because Ginny was neglected for such an extended period of time, no area on her body was completely sound. The Pekingese was so roughly treated that it lay shaking in bed day in and day out and had to receive multiple surgeries on its lungs and nasal cavity, among others.

CARE also wrote that they had done everything in their power to try to save the dog, saying, "Every time Ginny's breath became ragged or suddenly stopped, the adoption center's secretary would repeatedly run to the clinic, carrying Ginny."

Unfortunately, no amount of prayer, will, or treatment could save Ginny. The dog was too far gone to be nursed back to health, and sadly died.

Meanwhile, the Busan resident woman who was discovered to be Ginny's past owner got off free of any charges when she claimed that she "only fed [the dogs] makgeolli as a joke."

Rest in Peace Ginny.
