Korean-American Harvard student makes headlines for challenging Donald Trump

misc.
There's a fine line between opinion and fact, but one particular statement Donald Trump has said about South Korea's military relationship with the United States is simply, incorrect.

Presidential candidate Donald Trump was previously criticized this past summer for inaccurately stating that the United States' military forces protect South Korea while South Korea gives absolutely nothing back. Netizens knew that was untrue, and at the recent 'No Labels' conference, one particular Harvard student stood up to confront Trump on the false statement.

As you can see in the video, the Korean-American Harvard student, Joseph Choe, asked in a respectful way, "Basically, you said that South Korea takes advantage of the United States in terms of the defense spending on the peninsula. I just want to get the facts straight."

That's when Trump interrupted him by asking, "Are you from South Korea?"

Choe replied, "No, I'm not. I was born in Texas, raised in Colorado. No matter where I'm from, I'd like to get my facts straight. I wanted to tell you, that's not true, South Korea paid $861 million dollars."

Then Trump interrupted again by saying, "Which is peanuts compared to what it's costing us.

Trump then continued on to say that wealthy countries like South Korea, Japan and Germany should not be receiving military support from the U.S. when they only 'pay a fraction of the full cost'.

Joseph Choe is receiving worldwide attention in the news, especially in the United States and Korea for standing up to Trump.

Choe had also been in the spotlight this past spring when he challenged the Japanese prime minister about Japan's wartime crimes against women, including Korean women.

Way to go, Joseph Choe! And Trump, please get your facts straight or at least admit to them.
