A young policeman touches hearts with his kindness toward an elderly woman

Buzz

During this summer season, when the weather can be painfully hot in South Korea, a gracious act of a young police officer pushing a heavy cart up 1 kilometer for an elderly woman was documented.

The hero of this story that has been circulating in South Korea is a 21-year-old police patrol officer named Park Il Kyung.

As the young man was taking a quick break from directing traffic, it was around 3pm (mind you, probably one of the hottest times of the day) when he spotted an elderly woman in her 70's struggling to push a cart. This cart was filled with various objects like flooring pads and kitchen appliances.

Park felt sympathetic for the grandmother pushing such a heavy cart up a hill that he quickly ran up to her to push the cart for her. He thought of his own grandmother who would often pick up scraps up paper to sell for money, and that is how he pushed the cart for a distance of 1 kilometer.

The grandmother expressed her thanks to Park saying, "I don't know what I can possibly do to return this favor."

This good samaritan act was witnessed by a person that was in a nearby car, who documented the scene by taking a photo then reported it to the National Police Agency. The police made their efforts to identify the young policeman.

Park was described as "sincere" by his region's police station. "Even if it was just pushing a cart for a struggling senior citizen, as one of the police members of South Korea, I considered this a duty," Park said.

Now, that's a good man!
