On June 14, Maroo Entertainment confirmed previous reports that 'Produce 101' season 2 trainee Park Ji Hoon has already begun his official contract with the label.

Maroo Entertainment simply stated, "We had a contract already in place. Because we are not a big company, we create contracts even with our trainees. It is a standard contract with a 7-year term."

Previous reports had stated that while most trainees do not sign contracts with their labels until after their debut becomes confirmed or directly on their debut date, Park Ji Hoon's contract has been set in place since before his appearance on 'Produce 101' season 2.

Even the 11 IOI members, who promoted in the group for a year after the end of 'Produce 101' season 1, did not begin their official contracts with their respective labels until after the end of IOI promotions. But for Park Ji Hoon, his contract with Maroo Entertainment, a standard, 7-year term, has already begun.

The reports even said that other trainees currently on 'Produce 101' season 2 have also begun their contracts with their labels, due to the immense popularity the trainees are gaining on the show even before being selected as a member of the final group.

Meanwhile, the final episode of 'Produce 101' season 2 will be broadcast live this June 16.

Really hope this is for the best. Thought I want him to be under bigger agency, his current agency is the one take care of him in the first place. So now just hope for his bright future ahead. Let go to the top 1 Park Jihoon 👑❤️😍

They're scared to loose him. I think it's better for him to move into bigger agencies but well, he should also thankhis current company for putting him on pd 101

They're scared to lose him after all the positive attention he's getting. Lol. He can seriously pass for an actor too. Like whew, this guy has it all. A lot of agencies are probably after him, hence the official contract.

I didn't know trainees didn't sign contracts. If this is true then I hope the MMO guys can move on to a better company.

if he can make it through all of produce as rank 1-3 simply based on a wink, then makes sense his company wouldnt wanna let him go

mrkpooper Wednesday, June 14, 2017

We can only wish for the company to support him well.

makes sense. companies only do contracts for their debut idols because thats when they're thrown into the public and starts promoting. theres no point of making a contract with trainees because there is a chance they wont debut. but now since Produce 101 is so popular the companies want to keep the trainees. they dont want other companies snatching them away. and i bet the companies are going to establish a group base around the trainees they have on Produce 101.
