Highlight revealed their hopes to surpass the success of B2ST

As fans know by now, the B2ST members, excluding Hyunseung, made a fresh start as Highlight after leaving Cube Entertainment. At the press conference for their concert 'Highlight Live 2017 - Can You Feel It?' on June 3, the boys of Highlight talked about their plans and aspirations.

Dongwoon said, "Nothing has changed since B2ST. We never forgot our beginnings since we debuted as B2ST, but we found the 20% of the initial drive we lost along the way. We want to work hard as Highlight until we surpass B2ST." Doojoon also said, "We feel pressured to succeed more than B2ST, and we can't achieve the honors we did as B2ST in a short time. However, we're planning to achieve them one by one with our agency and fans."

'Highlight Live 2017 - Can You Feel It?' will take place from June 2-4 at the Jamsil Olympic Arena before moving onto Hong Kong on July 29.

I think they just need to do more broadcasts, I love Gi Kwang ever since his segment on I Live Alone he's so funny and personable when fans see more of that their popularity will skyrocket, everyone in the Kpop world right now is trying to be too cute or "mysterious" I think them being personable and real will gain them more Korean fans and also international fans.

I think they are in another level, they are CEO's that produced their own music, so idk if they are going to be bigger than BEAST, but they are more powerful and recognized by other idols and people in general.

I feel so bad abt Hyunseung, it seems like he's been an outcast from the very beginning.

He always seemed pretty off to me from the start as well, like he didn't exactly fit in with the rest of Beast or at least didn't fit in the same way he did when he was part of Bigbang :/ I remember feeling pretty weird watching Beast's Showtime because it became more evident that he was always left out but they played it off as "oh he's just the alien of the group" like no, he acts way different around Hyuna and around Bigbang.

Hyun-Seung seems to a weird character, but in a good way. It is too bad he could not fully connect with other members. Another amazingly weird lad from one of JYP's recent bands also left last year, and now goes solo. So yes, it happens. But what do you think of HL's success? They do not have Tiger as their producer any more. Now it all depends on HL's rapper/singer who composes most of their songs. Obviously, their Please song was outstanding, so they are already very successful, but I am not sure that they will be able to surpass Tiger's Breath, Fiction and the like -- what do you think?

I don't feel sorry for HyunSeung and i don't think he feels bad either, i think he took his decision. As a long time BEAST's (HIGHLIGHT) fan is so funny see people talk about Hyunseung like that, "outcast" and "left out" "since the beginning" LOL people were attacking him just a year ago, I have to admit that in Showtime it was obvious that he didn't want to be there, but if you check their other realities and interviews (2009-2013) you will see how close they were specially: MTV B2ST documentary, MTV almighthy or Idol Maid, etc. After the scandal last year and when he left BEAST, he said that he didn't want to be part of BEAST because his tastes were different, idk if they don't talk anymore or what happened between them but yes he is a 4D person, and yes his musical preferences are really different. However i still support our 4D Prince, and i hope that CUBE do a good job with him and don't throw him under the bus like they did with him during the scandal or when they annunced the 'new BEAST'. So you shouldn't feel bad about him because at the end it was his decision, caused by a sum of things: HyunSeung + BEAST + CUBE + Knetz.

I personally have always had a lot of faith in Beast; they were the first group I actually got into and have been following for years now and the first proper taste of their abilities as a group, without the backing of Shinsadong Tiger and Cube, were their Japanese releases for the "Guess Who?" album. The producing of the album, the company, everything was all on the members and honestly it's so well produced I'm surprised Cube didn't allow them to take part in the creation of their music in Korea. That was the actual start of "Around Us Entertainment". I'm personally glad Highlight came to be; I started feeling as if Beast were starting to fall back in popularity because they didn't have a massive international following, sure they are legends in Korea and Japan, but outside of that people only knew them for fiction. As Highlight begins their journey, you can already see a new legion of International fans showing genuine interest in them. Will they be able to surpass Fiction? I am still not so sure, but people also thought Bigbang wouldn't be able to surpass Haru Haru and then Fantastic Baby came out; then people said they wouldn't surpass Fantastic Baby and BangBangBang came out lol Let's just have faith in Highlight, I'm sure they'll amount to much more without Cube's restrictions!

"I'm surprised Cube didn't allow them to take part in the creation of their music in Korea" Not sure what you mean here, but haven't they (esp. Junhyung and Taejoo) always been in charge of their album since 2012?

Oh I meant that Highlight were not exactly in control of what they put out! I should have worded it better. Also you are right, Junhyung and Taejoo were active participants since 2012 but the first time Junhyung was actually given all creative freedom was with his solo album Flower and with Yoseob's Caffeine. Then the first member to get involved in lyric writing after Junhyung was Kikwang with the song 'History' for their Good Luck album and songs composed/written by him were picked up for all their consequent album releases ('So Hot' in 2014, 'Oh Honey' in 2015 and 'Curious', 'Baby its you' and 'Jjalyayo' in 2016) ; it was around 2016 and with the creation of the 'Beast Music' label and the release of 'Guess Who?' that Beast were actually granted all permission to work on their albums as they wanted and thus released the 'Highlight' album in which they all participated!
