BTS is setting new records in Japan!

On Japan's Oricon Chart, BTS recorded a total of 238,795 Oricon points/album sales with their latest Japanese single ''Blood, Sweat & Tears'' and took #1 on the Weekly Single Chart.

The boy group made their Japanese debut with ''No More Dream'' in June of 2014. This makes BTS the fastest foreign group to surpass 200,000 album sales on Oricon's Weekly Single Chart.

Furthermore, BTS recorded the second highest album sales out of all foreign artists with ''Blood, Sweat & Tears''. They also have placed #1, not only on the Oricon Daily Chart but also on iTunes chart in 13 nations.

Congratulations, BTS!

BTS are kings and legends who are making history!! weren't you all jealous bitches saying that BTS is irrelevant in Asia?? well, here is the proof that BTS is also doing very well in Asia. BTS barely promotes in Japan yet they manage to sell this big amount of albums.. i'm so proud. I love how BTS is being successful everywhere, Asia, Europe ,America just everywhere. Why does AKP always choose such old cover pictures lol! Where is it even from? INU era? Anyways, that's really impressive of BTS!

This is actually even more of an achievement when you consider that a Single by a Korean Artist hasn't sold this well since 2010-2011, when the Hallyu was at its highest in Japan... Kpop has since lost some of its popularity in Japan, but maybe it's coming back with groups like BTS, EXO, IKON etc.?

(Disclaimer because there seem to be some misunderstandings: I know EXO is not on this list and that's because Oricon only counts physical sales, and currently Coming Over has 157K and Love Me Right 195K physical sales. But record certifications do however count streaming, and therefore Coming Over amazingly went platinum in Japan with over 250,000 combined physical and streaming sales. Hope that clears it up!)

Honestly... thanks a lot for clearing that up! I'm an Exo-l and I've always been confused by how they got platinum in Japan when all the official numbers don't list their sales as 250.000. Oh and congrats to BTS!

So does that mean if you sell 250K in Japan you get platinum? Is that for singles only or also albums?

Why do I get a feeling BTS is gonna snatch that first spot? And I'm super proud that BTS already sold this much.

It is a pretty big climb tho, 50K... If they do it's definitely impressive!

it is but they achieved 238K in only a couple of days so they might get 50K more.....anything is possible! :)

but what's surprising to me is that bigbang and ikon who sold shows in tokyo dome yet they're not in this list?

Oh and yes, In Japan it is RIAJ that certifies record achievements, and their certification system is this: 100K - Gold, 250K - Platinum, 500K - 2x Platinum, 750K - 3x Platinum, 1M - Million, 2M - Multi-Million...

Well my guess is that BB is stronger digitally than physically, just like in Korea. For Ikon I think their fanbase might just not be big enough yet... But I'm also surprised Ikon didn't sell more, since I know you had to buy special album editions to get tickets to some fanmeets... Which should've boosted their sales. They've still done pretty well with 114K for Dumb&Dumber tho!

Oh wait! I just checked, it doesn't look like they ever booked Tokyo Dome (although I also feel like I've seen someone say they did tho?). Instead it looks like they're going on a smaller dome tour, where the 2 dome venues have capacities of 50K or less... Which is still incredible for such a young group! So I guess that adds up to their sales actually...

The real question is where is Jang Geun Suk? What has he been up to since 2011? Has everyone forgotten the first Asia Prince (before Kwangsoo took the title)?

TOHOSHINKI!

Kotlertipo Thursday, May 18, 2017

I'm confused! WITH is the eighth Japanese studio album (fifteenth overall) by South Korean pop duo Tohoshinki (TVXQ), With was a commercial success, debuting at number one on the Billboard Japan Top Albums Chart and the Oricon Albums Chart, selling 233,000 copies on the first week of release! Tohoshinki are also the first foreign artists in Japan to have four consecutive albums sell 200,000 or more copies in a week! How BTS becomes the fastest foreign group to surpass 200,000 album sales on Japan's Oricon Chart ??????????? I did not understand!

Allkpop hould put the exact number, 238,795 Oricon points / album sales, as it can leave me confused with respect to Oricon Albums Chart! I saw this article on Twitter, I already arrived wanting a fight! Allkpop and its titles strange for fans of kpop!

Fastest between Japanese debut and achievement of 200k sales.

Read it again, there is no need to get worked up. No one in the article said they were the first, only that they were the fastest to get to 200,000 from debut... Also WITH was a studio album, BS&T is a single... So you're talking about completely different things than what the article actually says...

TVXQ took 233K in a week whereas BTS only took a couple of days to reach 238K.....
