Girls' Generation leader Taeyeon has dropped a special edition of her first solo album titled, 'My Voice The 1st Album Deluxe Edition.' This special release has all the songs from 'My Voice,' plus the single "11:11," as well as three new songs. A total of 17 tunes in all, plus a video to go along with "Make Me Love You." How cool is that?

Note: this review will cover the three new tracks. The single and the album have already been reviewed here and here respectively.

"Make Me Love You" starts out a bit bland, but quickly picks up steam and becomes a song that is seriously cool. It's got a sweeping, epic feel, featuring echoey lyrics and a piping synth. The vocals on this one are particularly good once the song finds its stride, and has some belts that are just brilliant. The emotion is palpable, and it's easy to see why this was chosen as the title track for the deluxe edition.

"I Blame On You" is another majestic tune on here, this time a ballad. It's also done the way I love -- stripped down, raw, with the instrumentation understated to highlight her amazing vocals. She exudes desperation in this one, and it almost feels like she reached deep into her soul to find those vocal heights. Despite the English fail chorus, it left me with chills.

"Curtain Call" has an epic beat, and the overall effect is very OST-like. I think that was deliberate, as she relates a relationship here to a stage performance, and the breakup is the final curtain. It's got a grandiose feel to it like it was tailor-made for a movie. The incredible pounding beat and her soaring voice leave you with a feeling of hope at the end.

Overall, I think these songs are stronger than the rest of the album. Each of these tunes is grand on their own and paired with the other songs they make this album into a pure winner. There were some pretentious songs on the full LP that wore thin quickly, but these three are outstanding tunes. If you're a Taeyeon fan (or even if you're not), it's entirely worth your time to check these new tracks out.

MV REVIEW -- "MAKE ME LOVE YOU"

This MV is all about evoking emotion. There are no grandiose sights, although the august production tries its best to make you think differently. Unfortunately, it doesn't ultimately succeed.

There were sections of the MV where she was supposed to have flowers drawn on her face. But I didn't see them as flowers at first, and I thought "exfoliate twice a day, baby. It'll unclog those pores." It just looked somehow unnatural and blunted my enjoyment of the MV. I'm not watching MVs on a 65" 4K UHD TV, so there you have it.

The MV seems to take place in a couple locations. There's a larger room stuffed with flowers, and a mock-up of a living room, where light streams through a window. And there's a hall. The main issue I have is that I never left the room. The MV was just not that interesting. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't really good either.

I like MVs that are more dynamic. Maybe I'm jaded, but this one just didn't speak to me as well as I might have hoped. I can't really recommend this too much, but if you can't get enough of Taeyeon, then go ahead and press play.
