MONSTA X will be working with a label created solely for them.

Japan's Universal Music created a new label Mercury Tokyo just for MONSTA X's Japanese debut. The name pays homage to 'Mercury Records', a music label in Chicago.

I don't know how I should feel about this. A part of me is over the moon about their Japanese debut, they deserve it for all the hard work they put in, but the other half of me is a little scared. We all know Starship Entertainment too well and it's making me feel uneasy.

We honestly haven't had a Korean Group that made it huge in Japan in a very long time. TVXQ, KARA, Big Bang, SNSD, JYJ and 2PM are basically the only 6 that made a huge in impact in Japan. The "Golden Era" groups. I thought AoA or Apinnk was going to be huge there by now but hasn't happened yet. I guess this label has high hopes for Monsta X, cuz what a commitment.

Didn't SHINee make it pretty big in Japan?? Then again I don't know much about the popularity of kpop artists in Japan

karakamilia Moogirl Tuesday, April 4, 2017

Funny cuz while I was writing this I was thinking about them. They're undecided, in my opinion. They're popular Japan but you rarely hear anything about them over there. The only impact they honestly made was being honored to perform a solo concert at Tokyo Dome (which is a very, very big deal), but idk. I'd say yes, since they performed at the Legendary Tokyo Dome.

There are a few others like FtIsland, Bts, and SHINee that sell really well in Japan too. Concerts, albums, and merch do really well there. I think it's because Japan likes the rock and also the trendier sounds and those groups do one or both of those styles.

They just had their 100th performance in Japan <3<3

Seems like Universal Music is anticipating big results.  And the teasers for Japanese version of Hero look so cool.  This will be an awesome opportunity for Monsta X - they're rising!

monsta x will flop in japan because they are not pretty like japanese people! please monsta x do not become like my unnie park bom and make your faces swell up even more with surgery! you will not make it in japan like my oppas BTS!!

joohoes parklola Monday, April 3, 2017

you're disgusting

Maybee_May parklola Monday, April 3, 2017

this comment is so stupid i cant even.. I´m honestly disgusted as an ARMY that you even bring bts in your hate comment. BTS do have a big fandom in Japan, but they havent made it big yet,, they´re still far away from Bigbang or TVXQ. So please dont be such an immature lil shit that keep wasting time shitting on other groups instead of supporting the oppas.

Mana92 Maybee_May Monday, April 3, 2017

oh no dude don't feel that way. this person is a troll whos trying to get bts bad attention and attacks all other groups or idols. they're just trying to start shit with their meaningless life. no bts fan should listen to this troll nor anyone else and as a fan of bts or not we all can see what this scum is doing. Report and ignore!!!

Miawruu Maybee_May Monday, April 3, 2017

KINGS

inspiritation Monday, April 3, 2017

hmm, I feel a way about this. So what will the label be up to when they are not promoting in Japan?

dahyessi inspiritation Monday, April 3, 2017

they'll debut in japan soon

inspiritation dahyessi Monday, April 3, 2017

I know. I'm saying when they come back to Korea. Will the label be inactive? To have a label that specifically caters to them means they will be in Japan a lot? =(

Mana92 inspiritation Monday, April 3, 2017

yeah i get what your'e saying. it's really cool though. i just wanna see them a lot no matter where they are! at least they'll get the support they deserve when theyre promoting in japan.

dahyessi inspiritation Tuesday, April 4, 2017

Well, they can't promote properly in china so they probably try to make it in japan meaning they will be staying some time in japan, or maybe not too much, guess will have to wait for that
