More of a family atmosphere. Well that tells us a lot. YG always talked about how they're a family but she feels more like a family with this agency. That's interesting.

Minzy dudnt have anyone in her age brackett. Lee hi was still young and shes tight with akmus suhyun after akmu joined. I dnt doubt the rships between idols is strong but like right now minzy is way older than somi but somi adores and idolizes minzy, their chemistry flows well. Mw is a smaller work setting like how yg once was but its growing. Glad minzy has 2 families :)

Why put former 2NE1 member before Minzy's name when you don't put former 4Minute member and former SNSD member to HyunA and Jessica respectively?

Normally I'd agree with you, but I saw this heartwarming video where Dara said she'd still introduce herself as 2ne1's Dara. 2ne1 was VERY important to them, Minzy included, but it was time for her to go her own way. I don't think it would offend Minzy to be refereed to as FORMER 2ne1 member. It's something I think will fade away with time. For now, being recently debuted as a solo artist the tag along might be appreciated as 2ne1 had a big following.

I don't know why ppl getting their feathers ruffled over the "former 2ne1" title. She is a former 2ne1 member, just like CL, Dara and Bom. Theyre all former 2ne1 members.

It has been one year now, since MINZY did officially leave as a 2NE1 member. But I am *not* clear that anyone is exactly 'insulting' MINZY to refer to her past 2NE1 membership. 2NE1 had some *classic* K-pop hit songs ; "I Am The Best" probably being the best known one. So, for MINZY to be associated with 2NE1, seems hardly a 'negative' to me (that much). But also, after one year duration 'gone' from 2NE1, maybe MINZY is looking to 'down play' her 2NE1 connections more.

MINZY being able to interact with BAEK JI YOUNG ; I would guess that is rather USEFUL. BAEK JI YOUNG seems, to me, someone who can claim to have pretty much 'done it all' in K-pop Music.

I know...it's also like "why you tryna remind us that now all of the members of 2ne1 are now former members of 2ne1?" Also Minzy is a solo artist now simply known as Minzy or Gong Minzy. I feel like adding former 2ne1 member makes it seem like her only claim to fame will always be 2ne1 even though she is perfectly capable of standing on her own as she is now...

At least she isn’t in that CrapG dungeon with hideous styling and no prospects of a life as an artist which she has always wanted since her childhood.

Of course she defends her ex company and ex label mates. It would practically be a suicide if she didn’t. She’d be called a backstabber, she’d had very little to no chances to succeed in entertainment world because CrapG is everywhere. But Lolita, congrats on being a delulu :)

Excuse me, even if Minzy didnt mention yg/21 (like since last yr) it would not b career-suicide. She knew there would be backlash when she left and could have prevented a lot it from escalating since she wasnt acknowledging BJS themselves/2ne1 anniversary (not the letter, but MW mediaplay articles afterwards) etc more. Noone needed proof to see if she was still tight with the girls/YG, it was the fans that wanted some acknowledgment and for a yr she was mute. She can manage on her own but if she really felt dirtied, we'd have seen more of it. Seeing as how its always been media articles that twisted shit around, doesnt mean there was anything shady that happened. all the girls have kept their affection for one another. Their rship between each other means ygfam BUT there is still a business. U r insanely delusional if u think YG is on SMs level who can recover its losses easily. Even Sm has money and they arent going to invest in ambers solo ideas anymore since it wasnt upto standards. Minzys debut was likewarm due to title track choices so dont come for YG when they know this wasnt the best she could have done. Nice to see ur trolling ass work so hard and fail.

It's not that people are avoiding talking about her low album sales, its that people are just happy for her to at least have a chance to promote as a solo. At the end of the day, yes companies care about how much you can bring in, but as a person as an artist who wouldn't at least want a chance to show what you can do? She didn't have that opportunity at YG which is why she left. And she probably feels more like a family environment at her new company because they are so small. At YG she was at the bottom of the list in terms of who YG showed affection to. At her new company she doesn't have to compete because they don't have any big name artists to compete with for attention.

But it kind of makes YG right for not investing in her solo. Maybe he knew the "support" she would get was youtube views not sales. They need to pay the people involved in these projects it's not free.

YG did what they thought best for the business, She did what she thought was right for herself as an artist. One could argue that sometimes the company plays a huge role in how popular an artist can get. For example, Seolhyun wasn't popular at all. When they first started media playing about her looks and body she got nothing but hate, but look at her now. He success is because her company pushed her even when the public said no one cared. Initially she had no hype or interest either. With Minzy, yes she was part of a successful group, but as an individual she got no push whatsoever. With YG, he will invest in you (in terms of solo work) only after the public shows a lot of interest, and even then it's a maybe. Minzy would've never gotten this chance under YG. Even if she never makes it big, I'm sure she's happy she left and that she can least perform on a few stages which is what she wanted. It's better than sitting back wondering what if. In terms of paying people back, you're right that even the nicest company can't keep promoting an artist who brings in no returns. But do we even know how much the company invested in her debut? It's not like they had to invest in her training and her mv doesn't seem to have cost a boat load of money either. She's gotten more gigs than she had in YG so that's bringing in a little revenue as well. As long as she didn't land in the red, I think she'll be fine for at least one more album. Hopefully this was enough for people to see her potential and want to work with her so that the next album is even better. I think this promotion has done it's job of getting her name as an individual out there a little bit more.

As an artist I hope it was worth it for her. At the end of the day singing is her job, she won't make as much as she was making in 2ne1 unless she starts to chart. For Seolhyun they created a product not an artist she will make money mainly from CFs. Also Seolhyun is gorgeous so she'll sell that persona until people find the next it girl. It's sad but singing abilities don't equate success. We will have to wait and see what happens. I still think she needs to develop a persona or find some sort of charm. She remains forgettable with her choice of songs and MV.

i see where u and lolsingsing are coming from BUT while i adore minzy, i cannot be blind to the facts. With this solo, I can SEE why YG did not see minzy as "next on solo lineup" especially considering how 2ne1 was practically blacklisted & yg shares dropped immensely (it was a dark time, even worse than GD and Dae scandals) and Yg still had to work on winner, ikon and blackpink. Seolhyun is NOT a good example to compare bcz her company knows body/sexy sells, they didnt have to try that hard but they knew she would the perfect CF girl and she passed thats why they invested. YG knows minzy is talented but they couldnt baby her with composition, there wasnt that much manpower when they were already working on other idols/aritsts (highgrnd included). She knew u have to fight tooth and nail to get urself noticed and consistently show improvement. Minzy traveled to LA often because she knew she could dance she just needed to come up with better moves and i kept track of her during the hiatus, she was improving in dance but composition wise she tried 3 times on her IG and it was ... mehhh.... + she was singing covers. IMO minzy knew she wasnt going to get a solo at YG because their expectations and standards are v high, she knew she had to make herself more marketable bc she did not see a successful continuation with 2ne1 after everything that happened. If theres anything i learned about KPOP over the past 10 yrs and now minzys debut, is that THE COMPANY CAN ONLY DO SO MUCH. look at how hard MW is promoting minzy on magazines, on unnies, getting other celebs to promote her on sns, AND STILL the domestic market where she makes her main money, isnt waking up to her. INTL billboard and itunes is great for minzy 1st time debut, but its not enough and she needs to consistently show improvement. LUCK has a lot to do with it. Luna is another example, great allround talent but still lacking in some shape/form. Amber had many shots at solo but even SM who is loaded, wont spend a penny of her ideas unless its a guaranteed hit. Its unfair to say Yg didnt give affection to minzy, im sure he guided her thats why she tried so hard to train and work on HERSELF during the hiatus. YG would def not have let minzys solo go down this way especially when she already was popular and had fame. MW realized they mediaplayed her all yr round shading YG leftright using her 21 status, but YG didnt have to retaliate, her sales speak for itself & debut was lukewarm for the SK-market. MW should have spent more time helping Minzy build up her persona & selecting the right song for her instead of getting cocky. No wonder MW released superwoman way after seeing ninano's status but im glad MW is giving her all the focus bcz shes their breadwinner now.

Yeah...Seolhyun really isnt an example of a company's power in popularity. Cos AOA's Hyejung was actually the one FNC tried to promote as the IT girl, but the public fell in love with Seolhyun so it would have been foolish to ignore that & not promote her :)

Of course she's probably not going to make as much as she would have when 2ne1 were active, but that's the problem, they were no longer active. They had no promotions as a group and she had no promotions as an individual. They don't make money just by breathing YG air. Was she just supposed to sit around indefinitely and live off her memories of the good ole days? There was never going to be a comeback as long as the public were against Bom and last I checked they still were salty about her. So if you had to choose between not have a solo or a chance to perform but stay with a large label and leaving and not making as much but still getting a chance to sing and perform you'd choose to just do nothing and wish you were performing?

but Minzy didnt say YGisnt a fam, since we saw her & winner boys hugging each other onstage after their win on inkigayo. Every family grows its never going to be Just u, ur partner, children. Ur children will grow and marry and bring their fam into ur fam. u cant expect a company that had literally worked from a basement & built up from zero to top 3, to not expand. I love seeing the interactions between seniors and juniors back then AND now. I remember when 2ne1bang werent close but overttime & maturity, they began hanging out on their downtime EVEN CL had dinner with TOP alone and shared it on IG. Theres a lot more than goes on behind the scenes and IG only gives u a peek. I'm glad minzy has another family setting too and she feels cared for just as much as when she was in YG. she said do herself.

in terms of a company or business, Yes the bigger it grows, the less family like it'll be, its normal, not necessarily a bad thing :) 200pple cant be as close to each other as 50pple were.
