Former Wonder Girls' member Lim made a guest appearance on the March 16 installment of tvN's 'Taxi' where she explained her reason for entering late into college.

On the show, the singer mentioned, "According to my age, I should have entered college back in 2011."

However, "I was performing overseas in America at that time so I wasn't able to attend school although I had wished for it."  Regarding the members' reactions, she commented, "They cheered and congratulated me for striving for my goals."

She then continued, "I was also very interested in learning different languages. So I had the passion for learning. Although I am not perfect, I am able to speak a total of four languages: English, Korean, Chinese, and Cantonese."

cute!!

Cantonese is a dialect under Chinese. That's considered one language.

Effy_S fatbom Thursday, March 16, 2017

not really, cantonese and mandarin are hardly mutually intelligible at all, compared to languages like dutch and afrikaans

fatbom Effy_S Thursday, March 16, 2017

...but they're still under Chinese. When you apply for jobs, you'd have to list it as Chinese (Mandarin, Cantonese)... otherwise, the recruiter thinks you're stupid. I learned it the hard way.

lol the recruiter is the more ignorant one in this case then haha. i suppose in the typical workplace it isnt absolutely necessary to distinguish the two (especially since most cantonese speakers also speak mandarin), but in terms of language learning i would say they're two languages

Better late than never Lim. If you work hard you can reach your goals, It's what I have done and succeeded so far. I am happy that you are going back to school after failing to be successful with WG. IF you are interested in foreign language, you can try to learn French in one of our best university. In this case I advise you the prestigious Seoul national university where I am studying Phd in French literature. IF you want I can give you a lot of information about French literature and Seoul national university.
