Debuting with 'South of the Sun' in 2000, which received a very high viewer rating of 30.2%, screenwriter Kim then went on to create countless hits, such as, 'Lovers in Paris', 'Lovers in Prague', 'On Air', 'City Hall', 'Secret Garden', 'A Gentleman's Dignity', 'The Heirs', and 'Descendents of the Sun'. As all her dramas have received great love from viewers and she's well-known for creating mesmerizing male characters, top stars have contacted screenwriter Kim hoping to work alongside her.
Let's take a look at some of the potential actors for her next project:
Currently receiving much attention for the new movie 'The King', Jo In Sung has expressed his wishes to work with screenwriter Kim. "Apart from the number of projects, I believe that an actor has to become fresh and new every time he stands in front of an audience." He then went on, "I don't know what Kim Eun Sook has planned for next, but what I do know is that I want to be a part of it."
Perfectly portraying the role of a grim reaper in 'Goblin', it was revealed that Lee Dong Wook contacted writer Kim several times. However, she had rejected him saying he wasn't fit for the role. There has been word going around that the actor sat next to the writer on a plane and insisted he played the role. In the end, it looks like writer Kim was certainly not disappointed.
Starring in the #1 film 'The Admiral: Roaring Currents', Ontani Ryohei also had expressed interest in working with writer Kim. During MBC's 'Our Neighborhood Arts and Physical Education', the actor stated, "I also starred in a film, which attracted 1,760 viewers. How about a Japanese actor for a change?"
On the flipside, there are stars who writer Kim has contacted herself.
At a press conference, writer Kim confessed that she expressed interest in working with Gong Yoo for five years, which the actor surely lived up to it in 'Goblin'.
Writer Kim tends to subtly hint at the actor as someone she would like to work in a drama. For example, in 'A Gentleman's Dignity', the name of the main character played by Jang Dong Gun was Kim Do Jin, which is also Won Bin's real name.
In addition to lines, writer Kim sends messages through entire scenes as well. In KBS' 'Descendents of the Sun', she included a parody scene of Kang Dong Won's unforgettable umbrella scene.
It remains a mystery whether or not Kang Dong Won or Won Bin will ever get a chance to work with the renowned writer. An affiliate mentioned, "Writer Kim Eun Sook is looking to reveal her next project in 2018." With that being said, we will just have to wait and see.
Who do you think would be a good match?
