In December 2016, boy group Seventeen's album ranked second place on Gaon's album chart, right behind EXO.

Upon releasing their third mini album, 'Seventeen 3rd Mini Album Going Seventeen' last month, the group returned from their activities overseas to promote "Boom Boom" and marked their territory once back in South Korea.  With the release of their new album, the group swept music charts across the nation.

Also showing much popularity and recognition overseas, the group looks to have a positive outcome as seen in the December 2016 Gaon chart results.  Debuting exactly one year and eight months ago, Seventeen is quickly moving up the rankings for boy groups as their album sold more than 223,000 copies in December and they continue to gain much attention from the masses.

With each release getting more popular and more album sales, Seventeen is quickly approaching the ranks of the top tier boy groups.

just remember that for every SVT album sold, Woozi is raking money lol WE'RE GETTING THERE, BOIZ. I'm so glad that despite coming from a struggling company, Seventeen was able to rise among the tight competition. I can't help but feel teary whenever I imagine how they must have feared not being able to do well. LET'S LOOK FORWARD TO 2017. TIS OUR YEAR <3 <3

those haters are probably fans who think their faves are the best male group ever and they'll stay on top forever... they feel threatened so they blindly hate SVT! I say... stay scared fantards.

I really want to know what went wrong with NU'EST-- I know it's disrespectful to bring other groups up, but it's just so surprising how NU'EST are known for having the most successful debut but then the hype completely died off. I know Seventeen's management is not the best when it comes to taking care of the group, but wow they sure are doing everything right promotion-wise! I'm so proud of seventeen; it somehow feels as if they haven't stopped promoting for a second ever since they debuted.

Pledis has been really horrible in promoting their artists in the past, but since Seventeen had a lot of hype before their debut I guess they wanted to focus on them more

poor promotion + tight competition. Nuest's debut year was filled with strong groups such as EXO, BAP and BtoB. their debut song was strong enough to garner attention, but each comeback song became weaker and weaker until they could not sustain the initial attention anymore. Pledis also lacked proper exposure for them. same with After School. Only with Seventeen did they slowly learn how to promote their artist properly, and it's still far from great >.<

Probably since the Korean comebacks are not doing well. And yes, at that time Japan promotions is the trend because of Kara

EXO isn't the only one anymore. Seventeen, BTS, and whomever else sells more than 200,000+ copies.

They are always put into a sentence with EXO. This of course is helping them since the people that don't know them will look them up to see why the comparison and start to like them or at least debate how they are not better than EXO. Same thing happened with BTS until people couldn't deny their talents/music. I'm just waiting on Got7 to sell as well digitally as they do physically.
