Looking back at the 'Wonder Years' with the Wonder Girls

Wonder Girls
1. 1. The hit release and endless covers of 'Tell Me'
"Tell Me" was by far the hit that made the Wonder Girls the magic they are today! The song was addictive, the lyrics were catchy and moving, and (most of all) the dance was undeniably irresistible! So dang irresistible that no K-Pop fan or idol could resist doing it. Even prisoners join in on the fun!
2. 2. The unforgettable sensation of 'Nobody'
"I want nobody, nobody, but You" *Clap Clap* Who could forget this bop? "Nobody" was another unforgettable track that made its way into China, Japan, and even the U.S. This was a big step into international fame and helped them become global icons!
3. 3. One of the first stars to push the Hallyu trend internationally
As mentioned before, the Wonder Girls really did help fuel the Hallyu Wave as they were absolute trendsetters not only in Asia, but overseas in the states as well! Even our parents know who the Wonder Girls are!
4. 4. How they mastered the Retro concept
No one can take the crown away from these Retro queens! While they have dabbled in some hip-hop and R&B time and again, retro songs were their absolute forte and we wouldn't have it any other way. K-Pop will desperately be in need of Retro concepts now that the throne has been left empty.
5. 5. The addicting dance moves
All of their dances included some sort of distinct, unique choreography that grabbed our attention and had us looking for mirrored dance practices ASAP! Not to mention the girls had a lot of awesome dance/cover contests for fans during their concert promotions, which made us even crazier. Even if you didn't learn the whole dance, there is no denying that you definitely danced to the chorus in your computer chair or concert seat every time you watched them!
6. 6. Their amazing tour in the U.S.
Just like a true Hallyu Star would, the Wonder Girls paved a huge road for K-Pop into the U.S. From countless TV show premiers, their own documentary of their time in N.Y.C and even holding their own concerts - the Wonder Girls were an absolute sensation! Let us not forget how they toured with the Jonas Brothers and Justin Bieber as opening acts to many of their concerts and tours.
7. 7. Their first movie in America on 'TeenNick'
Do you know any other K-Pop idol group or star with their own movie in the U.S? Didn't think so! The Wonder Girls made history when they premiered on 'TeenNick' with their 'Wonder Girls' movie!
8. 8. When they wrote their first English song featuring Akon
The girls continued to strike while the iron was hot! After having a successful tour in the U.S and debuting on the big screen, the girls went even farther and collaborated with hit singer Akon with "Like Money." Just hearing a K-Pop song play on the radio (especially before the "Gangnam Style" hype) was a huge shock and honor to fans as well as the Wonder Girls!
9. 9. When the had a real 'Reboot' and became a band
After Sunye got married and went on various missionary trips and Sohee left to pursue acting, the Wonder Girls went through a silent spell and remained inactive for sometime. Soon after, the girls came back (after a difficult change in the lineup) and were reborn as the stunning band whose music we couldn't get enough of!
10. 10. How they just made life Wonderful
We simply can't forget them because they are just so gosh-darn wonderful! The girls will forever remain in history as ambassadors of K-Pop, progressives of the Hallyu wave, Queens of the Retro concept, and a strong memory that will live on in our hearts. Thank you Wonder Girls for the unforgettable wonder years~
