Sooner or later it will become impossible to enforce these draconian usage laws without filling the prisons up with otherwise innocent kids. It may have been easy to enforce Confucian conservative zealotry during the Hermit Kingdom days, but in the 21st century globalized South Korea it will prove to be extremely difficult as time goes by. Can't wait until a story breaks about how politicians' kids and Chaebol princes/princesses smoke dope with impunity while others get crucified for doing the same.

That's a pretty big party but a skimpy haul for such a big "bust". That's not even a full pound of pot. They scooped up almost 800 people with this little piddly amount of stuff. Jeez. I wonder if the cops go after other crimes with the same gusto and broad reach? Probably should read the translated news papers more often. Somehow this just looks "quaint" to me and sad since this is a drop in the bucket compared to the volume of drugs that move around elsewhere in the world. Of course most of these people will simply be fined which is as it should be since drug crimes like don't harm others in the same way as violence and property crimes.

I also found the amount of drugs vs. # of arrested people to be a little odd. I'm not gonna put a lot of trust is the numebrs of an allkpop article lol but...seems crazy

"I did marijuana just once out of curiosity" >> stupidest reason ever. Why do something that you know will get you arrested sooner or later?

Actually the odds of getting caught smoking Marijuana just one time are very low. B got unlucky.

tbh with the legal consequences of being caught with weed in SK I would never even get close to touching the stuff. Especially as a public figure

It's a gamble, but people are pretty confident to do stupid things when they see a lot of other people doing it. I guess it's like the sheep mentality, safety in numbers.

I guess because they're public figures, they have higher chances of getting caught compared to if they're just normal civilians. And yeah you never know when police will start investigating... so they should just be safe than sorry.
