Jinho and Hongseok, who finally made their debut under Cube Entertainment's new boy group Pentagon, revealed why they chose their current label.

As you may know, Hongseok participated in the show 'Mix & Match' and almost debuted in YG Entertainment's boy group iKON. However, he left YG shortly after the end of the show. During the showcase for Pentagon's 1st mini album 'Pentagon' on October 10, Hongseok opened up about his past decision to depart YG, and explained, "I was a candidate for iKON, but I was eliminated. So then I was left behind, and I felt like I was too old to be debuting as an idol. WINNER debuted and so did iKON and I got scared of waiting for the next turn under the label. So I went out to search for my own team and music. The rookie development director [of Cube] explained to me about a team called Pentagon and it was perfect, so I told him right away that I want to stay here [in Cube]."

Jinho who was part of SM The Ballad, also explained his decision to leave the label for Cube, and said, "I was a trainee for about 6 years, but my opinions and the label's opinions were a bit different. So I decided to bid them farewell under good terms."

What did you think of Pentagon's debut with "Gorilla"

SM and YG did the wrong thing lmao. Love Pentagon. This is the first time I stanned a rookie group so hard that I might crack the ground.

he's just 22. he was 20 when he lost in the tv show. how is that too old?this new craze about debuting people who arent even adults as idols is making the trainees think that this is the standard. madness

it's not too old in normal circumstances. however, this is yg we're talking about. the next time a boy group would debut, after the debuts of two new boy groups, would be at least a few years. that's why he would be too old to debut in the next group.

I remember SM The Ballad (the original one)! I still jam out to their tunes and I was sad when they didn't come back again :(

Jinho would've been lovely as an Exo member if SM had thought to debut him back then during that time, but Exo is great as there are now anyways and Pentagon is great as they are now too. So many people waited for him after SM the Ballad; I know I did, but I'm glad he finally debuted and got his chance to do what he wanted.

Glad Jinho is getting a chance to debut finally - loved him in SM The Ballad. I remember when EXO teasers first came out I was waiting for him to pop up be he never did. He possibly might have been in an eventual line up for NCT but I'm glad he had the chance to get away from all that uncertainty

Cube has a way of bringing everyone together. like with no hard feelings. I mean like they have people from JYP (i knwo why tho so dont even say it), they have people who came from SM, and they have people who came from YG (i know who are gonna mention, again, dont say it) and its liek if the big 3 had a baby, (dont know how that would work) it would be cube. I kno cube has their ups and downs, but they have a talent of doing something lke this...

considering Jinho was around b4 EXO even existed, its pretty amazing he's getting a 2nd chance like this after so long. Even tho Pentagon's debut was hardly original hopefully they'll be able to secure their place eventually as a top tier group
