According to Wassup's label Mafia Records, the girl group's schedules in China have been canceled abruptly.

The label relayed, "We're facing unexpected trouble after learning that Wassup's appearance at the Wei Shang 20th Anniversary Big Star Concert, taking place August 5, has been canceled; furthermore, all of Wassup's schedules for the latter half of 2016 have likewise been canceled."

They continued, "We had heard rumors about China prohibiting K-Pop acts, but when we contacted the host of the event, we received positive answers, so we were preparing for the schedule as planned, but then the schedule was suddenly canceled."

Tensions between China and Korea have been escalating after Korea's decision to deploy THAAD (Terminal High Altitude Area Defense), and many speculate that the numerous, unexplained cancellations of Hallyu stars' Chinese schedules seem to be their direct results.

As observation, HALLYU seems to be some kind of 'logic' where say PRChina citizens are 'sold' on the idea that it is 'OKAY to FEEL GOOD about making (S.KOREAN) PSY WEALTHY ($$$$).' Which, I am *not* so clear why this is an 'easy sell' to PRChina citizens exactly. To be honest, I am *surprised* at the level of SUCCESS that *S.KOREAN* K-pop Idols have achieved in PRChina; and also JAPAN too. Maybe the FUTURE for K-POP Agencies like JYPe Agency, is to find PRChina citizens like FEI (MISS A Group) and target them at the PRChina market. In other words, the K-pop Agencies become more *training* firms for PRChina citizens. And then, the AGENCY does *share* in their (hopeful) success in PRChina. Obviously, the 'danger' is that these PRChina citizens do 'quit their contract' on the Agency. As did KRIS, LUHAN, and TAO from EXO Group with SMe Agency.

Guys, it doesn't have anything to do with what's going on with the THAAD situation because they had nothing but positive reasons why all of their Chinese promotions have been cancelled, that's all.  So therefore, hopefully all of their Chinese WAFFLEs can be understanding of this and know that there's gonna be a next time for them to see Wa$$up in action in concert.

I seriously wonder how the millions of Chinese Kpop fans are going to react if big groups like EXO no longer can promote there. Then again, we won't find out because their government will stop anyone from talking about it...

I just went to Weibo, most Chinese people agreed about the banning SK idols, you don't believe me? go to weibo and type this 韩国封杀 or 封杀韩星 and you will see the results and the comments of Chinese netizens, ones of the comment which is thumbed up 韩国人其实也挺可怜的,一面靠中国养活,一面由于自卑心作祟随意诋毁毁谤中国,死鸭子嘴硬,最后还不是为了来中国捞钱使出浑身解数吗?

hangeng was actually prohibited from appearing in TV when he was with suju when they debut , he had to wear a mask to preform .

But didn't that regulation exist before Suju debuted? Probably got removed later because of big companies' lobby.

Jackson is from Hong Kong, which is separate from the People's Republic of China (which is who is pushing THAAD). So it likely wouldn't apply to him.

What I meant was that he had the wrong visa for Korea. He was using a vacation visa and foreigners were only allowed to perform on three tv channels at that time.

A lot of Asian acknowledge them as different. Also, Taiwan is a separate nation and any Taiwanese person will agree (the only people that don't see Taiwan as its own nation are Chinese people, for the most part).

    cheshire_neko DZico Thursday, August 4, 2016

As of right now they may have some military personnel still in Taiwan, but after the most recent inauguration of Taiwan's pro-independence president, there is high tension between those military from PRChina and the Taiwanese defense. But it doesn't exactly matter, because if you think about it the US has military in Korea, but that does not make Korea a part of the US.

I am gonna be ripped for saying this. But I still want to say it. I am glad China did this. China should do this long time ago. I don't like Hallyu wave in China. It's time government do something about Hallyuwave in China. Korean actor is okay as long as they are serious want to develop their career in China, but not Korean idol.

We know that Korean idol only use China for money not seriously develop their career. I don't want Chinese or any other hardworking actors who have develop their career all their life in China get trumped by this so called idol.

everything is about money lmao. you act like expanding into international markets is a bad thing, when it's really not. those hardworking actors ?? there are plenty of underrated actors and idols in korea as well who get "trumped by this so called idol". but regardless of the idol's schedules in international waters or not, those nobodies would stay nobodies. because whether you personally like it or not, many kpop idols and korean actors are loved and adored by chinese netizens. adoration = money. js.

There are some China government policy that I don't like and I don't support them. In this case I agree with the policy so I support it. It was that simple. You don't have to agree with me. As long as we agree to disagree that's enough for me

First I don't care about what other Cnetz think about Korean idols. Everyone have their own opinions. Everyone can love and support Korean idols working in China for whatever reason, including so their beloved idols become more rich. And I can choose not to support them for only care about money at the expense of other serious hardworking actors who spend their whole life in China. As long as we are agree to disagree, that's enough for me. Btw, you are right, it was Korean not Koreanese. My mistake.

Well, most Koreans look down on Chinese people, I ask, have you seen any Chinese dramas in Korea? or Chinese singers come to Korea to promote their albums? it's mostly Korean singers come to China to make money, and Chinese people watch Korean dramas, imo Koreans hate China but they want money from China! It's China's right as well to protect their domestic singers and celebrities from the foreign celebs dominating their country.

The countries that made KPOP popular are South East Asian countries, japan and China, they accepted Korean dramas and songs I watched most Chinese dramas and listen to Chinese songs, they are MUCH better quality than KPOP and KDramas! Look at Knetz comments on Youtube and twitter, Korean people look down on Chinese people not only the communist government, anyway the Chinese government did better job for making their country big, stronger in both economy and military,, this is why many foreigners are trying to get chinese money!
