MBC's 'Show Champion' and Mnet's 'M! Countdown', 2 major weekly music shows, will not be airing next week.

Instead in their time slots on August 3 and August 4,viewers can tune into special broadcasts to prepare for the upcoming '2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics' in Brazil.

The 2016 summer Olympics will take place from August 5-21. As a result, we can expect more shows to forego airing in the month of August as the Olympics progress.

Stay tuned for more updates on your favorite shows!

Why are people so pissed off about this? It's the Olympics for god sake, an international tradition that's taken place for centuries. This definitely has more priority than just music shows where fandoms get to brag about their group winning and other fandoms getting butthurt. Get over it

You guys need to relax. It gives the artists a break because they've been endlessly promoting and performing all summer. You selfish jerks. They're human, not gods. Give them a fucking break.

It actually doesn't give them a break. They still have to rush around to performances, and actually, during the Olympics their schedules get even more hectic, because they have to rush around to all their normal events AND the Olympic support and celebration events. So, no, they don't get a break..

Music show are usually cancelled round this time because of the Olympics, this is why most artists don't comeback round this time.

I know that it sucks for some of you to hear this BUT let's just be understanding of this and wait patiently for another week to see our favorite K-Pop artists perform live on those shows.  You know that the Summer Olympics will kick off next Friday in Rio de Janiero, Brazil so that's why they're pre-empting the shows for this week but don't worry because the shows will be back live the following week.  So therefore, let's be patient until then.  At least we still have "The Show", "Music Core", "Music Bank" and "Inkigayo" to look forward to this week.  Those shows shall tide us over for the time being.

Hey, chill out, bruh!!!!!!!!!!! There's still a chance for them to do so. It's just that we will have to wait until the following week to see how it happens. You know that the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janiero, Brazil are about to kick off next week so that's why the two networks will pre-empt this week's broadcasts for a couple of special Olympic broadcasts.

It's okay, Gfriend needs a break. My poor girls are being so overworked. I am so worried. Umji is sick and SinB's arm needs resting.

i feel bad for all the solo artist and groups making comebacks in august mainly cus it was pretty predictable that, with Olympics starting soon, all the focus and interest will be on that. its bad especially for smaller/less popular groups to try and promote on shows during this period of time.
