IOI's Jeon So Mi has been featured in an article by the alternative weekly magazine 'LA Weekly'.

Writer Maxwell Williams asked whether Jeon So Mi could become the first major biracial K-pop idol star in an article titled, "Can Jeon Somi Become K-Pop's First International Biracial Superstar?" Though she's the youngest member of IOI, 15-year-old Jeon So Mi has already made waves, coming in first at the end of the competitive reality series 'Produce 101'.

The self-described Dutch Canadian and Korean idol also already brought in a couple of endorsement deals for companies in South Korea like SK Telecom and Alaskan Salmon

Check out the full article here. Do you think Jeon So Mi will become K-pop's first international biracial superstar?

This is a terribly poorly written article, not even by a real journalist.

I say she joins twice, since they are both one of the hottest people in korea atm, I think adding somi to twice will just increase both of their popularities. Just my opinion though

LA Weekly - these clowns are part of the establishment that keeps Asians out of the U.S. entertainment industry.  I'm surprised they know what kpop is, but I congratulate them for their venture into the world of "tolerance".  I'm not suprised they used the word "race" in the title, however.

KPOP. Amerie isn't KPOP. She's half-Korean that's why she came out on that magazine.

So just because Amerie performed with 4Minute that means she's Kpop? Snoop Dogg featured with PSY, Jinusean, and appeared on Show Me the Money last year. Does that mean Snoop Dogg is also Kpop? Amerie is half-Korean and she has pride for her Korean heritage as well that's why she even got a Korean tattoo of her name on her lower back. But she doesn't perform as a Kpop artist. She's an American artist.

If JYPE put Somi Natty Lily m Mashiro Chae Sister together They would form a really daebak international girl group (Korean, Japanese, Thai, Canadian, Australian in one group). This group will have many international fans.

This is 2016, and people still talk about Biracial star like it's still a thing. If I were Somi, I would feel offended by this kind of stupid question. Is race suppose to have anything to do with what she achieved? Somi is talented and have the star quality in her, regardless of what race she was born into

Race is a factor. Look at the current friction between PRChina and other South China Sea nations. The 'ill will' of it is 'spilling over' into K-pop; with FEI (PRChina citizen, MISS A Group) taking some 'heat' for supporting the PRChina viewpoint. Which S.KOREANS do *not* like it much. Which, *some* of them are now *openly* HOSTILE towards FEI.
