YG Entertainment's long, long, long-awaited girl group has finally been unveiled, and now we know that the group's 4 beautiful members - Jennie Kim, Lisa, Rosé, and Jisoo - will be making their debut soon as Black Pink

On June 28, a rep of YG provided more details regarding the rookie group, including the meaning behind the unique group name. The rep stated, "The meaning of Black Pink aims to contradict the common perception of the color pink. Pink is commonly used to portray prettiness, but Black Pink actually means to say that 'Pretty isn't everything'. It also symbolizes that they are a team that encompasses not only beauty, but also great talent."

I think the reason why everyone's focusing on the name is because we don't know too much about them. A lot of successful groups have names that probably a lot of people didn't like but eventually started to like. I was like WUT when I saw Winner's gonna be Winner lmao. Even Winner was disappointed. But you get used to it and eventually like it.:3 They just have to make that name theirs.

Meaning is nice, but it isn't really a good name. They should have put it with other order or use anything else. Also, I think it is actually throwing shades. YG some time ago said he wanted to do a SNSD-like girl group, but then started with "pretty isn't everything". He always wants to do tough groups, but seems so desesperate to make them unique... I mean no offense, i'm not insulting anyone or seeking fight, so please, shut up your insults.

better unique than basic. its simply YG's style, not everyone can pull it off. ive heard worse than black pink. (examples) gugudan, GEE-friend, mamamoo, sonamoo, 021 (same as u, im not insulting). im sure when he mentioned snsd it was referring to their popularity, not their concept. YG's groups, to me are so interesting and produce actual good quality music imo, and they are actually unique in the kpop scene which other artists should do too - uniqueness in their own ways (doesnt necessarily have to be tough)
