A few days ago, comedian Park Myung Soo talked with a public service police woman on a broadcast of 'Park Myung Soo's Radio Show'.

When the police woman said, "These days we have flyers on being prepared against female-related crimes sitting out for people", Park Myung Soo remarked, "Such crimes must happen more often because its summertime. It's fine to dress nice and pretty, but I think it's dangerous [for women] to wear too-revealing clothes and go drinking, and things like that."

Angered netizens everywhere have been flooding Park Myung Soo's Instagram with criticism since the broadcast, claiming that even though he may not have meant for his comment to demean women, his statement still contains an underlying offense.

Netizens said, "Revealing clothes have nothing to do with rape crimes. Furthermore, not wearing revealing clothes is in no way a method of avoiding female-related crimes", "Oh my word.. Your comment has single handedly made every male in the world a hidden rapist... Please provide some feedback..", "Just because he said it without knowing it might be offensive, that doesn't mean it isn't offensive", and more.

What do you make of Park Myung Soo's remark?

It's words like the ones he said, that make rape victims feel like they're somehow to blame for what happened to them, and make decent men into some kind of animals who can't control themselves at the sight of some skin. A woman could be sitting naked and drunk off her ass in the middle of the road, that does not mean she is "asking for it" . Saying otherwise is an insult for both women and men. Rape has little do to with sexual desire and more to do with control, so no amount of clothes will keep a woman safe if she comes across a rapist.

lol everyone is so butthurt! no one is right or wrong. it's a very sensitive topic and there are many views and opinions. just respect each other's opinion. just because PMS is a celebrity he get poop for what he said.

xcessx cvang010 Saturday, June 25, 2016

He didn't get this feedback purely because he's a celebrity. Any person who says what he said will get hateful response. The fact that he's well-known increases his chances.

micahxo_lu cvang010 Saturday, June 25, 2016

No, opinions don't have to be respected. That's why so many people have different wants, and sometimes certain opinions are very problematic and dangerous or offensive, I can't respect that. The least I can do is respect that you have an opinion, that you're actually thinking about certain issues, but sometimes people have really crappy opinions.

I don't care if your wearing a coat and jeans or walking around naked, no one asks to be raped, it should not matter what your wearing or if your drinking. I sometimes wear short things you wanna know why? I live at the beach and its so fucking hot outside I feel like my face is going to melt off.

Park Myung Soo is right, even though I'm not big on this guy since he's like the David Guetta [a talent leach] of Korean entertainment; but leave it to the thirteen year olds in a K-Pop news source comment section who don't understand 'the ease of access' to state otherwise. Get that pepper spray, that pocket knife, that license to carry. Fucking protect yourself; don't wait for others to do it for you, dummy.

Newbie_loving KatM Saturday, June 25, 2016

Carrying weapons is illegal in most places & during a fight can be used against you.

bangeryun94 KatM Saturday, June 25, 2016

I'm not 13 years old and most of the netizens calling him on his assholiness aren't either. And the last time I checked carrying guns and knives in Korea are illegal.

Itismoot Friday, June 24, 2016

lol, it's a comment.

Cherry_Peche Friday, June 24, 2016

Everything is permissible, but it doesn't mean it's right or safe.

Cherry_Peche Friday, June 24, 2016

You can't simply say that it's all the rapists fault and that women have the right to wear whatever they want. The fact is that people are out there that want to hurt and kill other people, and you can't just magically take all of them out. The point he's trying to make is basically make the best of the situation and don't put yourself in a situation that can endanger you more. If there are lions running around, you wouldn't say I have the free right to run around, it's the lions fault if they want to eat me. No, you can't change the lions, so you would do things to try to stay away from them.

bangeryun94 Cherry_Peche Friday, June 24, 2016

I understand what you're saying but there's this as well ... if I want to wear shorts and a sleeveless shirt and flip flops because it's hot and humid and I want to have a couple of beers for the same reason, I shouldn't have to worry about some tosser thinking "I'm going to rape her because she's a cheap slut in shorts drinking beer." I believe that's the point netizens were trying to make as far as PMS's comment.

Cherry_Peche bangeryun94 Friday, June 24, 2016

I took PMS as talking more about getting drunk like at parties, which no one would be able to help you or care if you were getting raped. But yes, you shouldn't have to worry, but the sad fact and reality is that we do have to worry about some sick people wanting to rape women because they're wearing revealing clothing. While I see how netizens are thinking, it's really not logical to say that women should dress however they like because they have the right (not because they dont' have the right, but I don't see it as wise because like I said, it's an unchangeble fact that there are sick people around the world) and that PMS was trying to put the blame on victims.

micahxo_lu Cherry_Peche Saturday, June 25, 2016

Your analogy towards a lion is totally out of context. A lion is an animal with no ability to reason, they live off of instinct because they don't know reason. If anything I could applaud you on basically calling men who can't control their sexual urges primitive because you know.. you compared them to a simple animal. But men are completely different from lions; they have the ability to reason. So can I say that it's all a rapists fault for raping someone? Fuck yes. They have a highly developed brain, yet they chose to rape someone. That's on them, they made the decision and need to be held fully accountable for the actions that they took. You can't put that blame on anyone else but the person(s) who did it.

Newbie_loving Cherry_Peche Saturday, June 25, 2016

a lion would only attack easy prey ( meaning weak ) A rapist is the same, they look for any easy option e.g. A drunk or someone alone.

LordLiar18 Friday, June 24, 2016

Maybe it wasn't really intentional for him to say those but we shouldn't link rape crimes and girls/women ways of dressing 'cause that's like given a reason for rapists to justify their crimes and that's totally wrong!! People shouldn't restrain themselves to dress a a certain way merely because some people have mental problems... That's not logical :s
