1. My Korean romance movie recommendations
I know we all love our Korean dramas, but Korean movies have a special place in my heart. They are perfect for one to revisit and fall in love with over and over again, whether it's during a restless night or a boring vacation that needs saving from.

I wish I was able to showcase all the amazing Korean romance movies out there, yes I know, 'My Sassy Girl,' and etcetera, but I'm assuming you are already familiar with those.

Therefore, I decided to keep it to a few of my all time favorites and share some special finds that I believe most people have not heard or watched yet.

If you find yourself surfing the internet one day with nothing in particular to do, revisit this list to see if any of them spark your interest!

I promise you won't be disappointed.
2. More Than Blue (2009)
I've watched this movie countless of times and it has never failed to bring me to tears. It seems to have a typical sad love story, the man is dying, but this deep love story is made beautiful with its plot twist which proves to be rather artistic.
3. Il Mare (2000)
You might've heard of the American film "The Lake House," but what most people don't know is that the 2006 film was a remake of South Korea's 'Il Mare' from back in 2000. It's a love story based on time travel, and its wonderful cinematography and original storyline is very worth the watch as you'll be rooting for the protagonists in the movie.
4. Maundy Thursday (2006)
Maundy Thursday also known as 'Our Happy Time,' will make you cry whether you want it or not. The acting is so well executed by Lee Na-Young and Kang Dong Won, that you'll understand exactly why these two are considered one of South Korea's top acting stars. You'll shed tears for the characters, the storyline and the message.
5. Finding Mr. Destiny (2010)
Although this movie was marketed as more of a comedy, I found it to be rather surreal and romantic. You'll see what I mean as the film will take you to the streets of India, stirring an inner desire to travel and perhaps experience love in a foreign land for yourself.
6. Only You (2011)
A story about a man who falls in love with a blind woman. It's a good one, especially with the performance you'll get from both Han Hyo Joo and So Ji Sub. The chemistry between the two is so on point, you'll feel it past the movie screen and even days after you finish the movie.
7. Ditto (2000)
This is another movie based on transcending time, but it differs from 'Il Mare' in its own unique way. First off, this was the best trailer I was able to find and I know these early 2000 movies may seem "too outdated" for some of you, but really, 'Ditto' is a gem. As two students from different times start communicating to each other using a radio, the movie's original storyline will keep you mesmerized.
8. The Classic (2003)
Many of you probably do know of this movie, but for those who don't: just watch it. It'll evoke the feeling of summer and love, which is honestly one of the best combinations, right? As the movie tells of two different love stories, one being from the present and the other in the past, you'll be left with a feeling that a well-made movie should give you... Wanting more.
9. Once in a Summer (2006)
After watching 'The Classic,' you'll most likely want to search the web to find other similar Korean movies, just like I did. Good thing I have this list for you! Watch this one next, for it won't disappoint. Do have your tissues nearby.
10. A Moment to Remember (2004)
This movie and the next one I chose are popular Korean movies that you need to watch if you haven't already. 'A Moment to Remember' is equivalent of the American movie 'The Notebook,' but of course with its own charms. As the main woman in the film starts losing her memory, you'll witness the depth of her husband's love. This film isn't merely about romance, but about sacrifice and that of unconditional love.
11. 200 Pound Beauty (2006)
Here's my last recommendation on this list guys. Yes, it's '200 Pound Beauty'! I thought I've been sharing too many melo-romance movies thus far (sorry), and that is why I'll end with this amazing Korean romance-comedy. If romance movies isn't your thing, at least watch this. As the female protagonist undergoes plastic surgery to become a famous singer (ultimately to win the heart of her crush), you'll laugh, perhaps cry, and learn a meaningful message from the film.
12. Recommendations
If there's any other Korean movie fanatics out there, share with me some of your underground favorites in the comments below! I am always on the lookout for films to watch.
