Many netizens had brought up the issue of indie band hyukoh's alleged plagiarism in the past week, pointing out the similarities between hyukoh's songs to the those of Beach Fossils and The Whitest Boy Alive

Beach Fossils themselves have now joined the rabble of people who are claiming that hyukoh copied their song "Golden Age" for "Panda Bear."

On Beach Fossils' official Twitter account, a tweet was uploaded that seemed to take a jab at hyukoh for their alleged plagiarism. The post read, "Imitation+flattery=sketchy! Golden Age + solo smells of Viceroy. Thanks Korea fans 4 heads up," including the link for the YouTube video that made a comparison to "Panda Bear" and "Golden Age," mentioning hyukoh in the process.

Korean netizens have flooded the comment section with, "If this is not plagiarism then I don't know what is," "Sorry but I can't possibly explain this," and "If anyone says this isn't plagiarism then they should rip their eardrums out."

Neither hyukoh nor their label HIGHGRND have yet responded to the band's accusation.

    maybe bcause hyukkoh and beach fossil are both indie , so their music is kinda similiar (same influenced?).. almost all indie band/group in ;other countries ;have this kind of music (melody and rhythm) tho, hyukkoh its not the first band to make this kind of music, still, ;i'm a fan of hyukoh now!.. ;

    to be honest i don't think they will plagiarize they have recently start to gain lots of attention. There's no need for negative attention and they don't need to plagiarize and is quickly becoming popular. I feel like those that envy their success is trying to stir crap up

    Just a question: Did Beach Fossils ever became as famous as Hyukoh, how they are now? I'm "fairly" new in K-pop like 3 years, but I never heard about them.

    Translation of Hyuk's response on his instagram, it's just a rough translation: ;

    "I received this mention. I, towards my music have a conscience and pride. Up to this point, there has not been a moment where I had a bad experience writing a song. Doing music has always been a dream, and if all I ever thought about was acceptance/recognition I would not have even started. I do not plagiarize.
    Even though we are a new band with no album, that has yet to reach 1 year, we are very thankful for the undeserved attention we quickly received. I know that I am still lacking a lot. But up to present, I have honorably/proudly made the music, and plan to continue on. Please continue to watch over me. "

    Thank you so much for the translation, I was waiting for someone to post something about it since I saw Hyuk mention the whole "Beach fossil twitter" stuff...I totally sucks how much negative attention they are getting, but it all comes with the fame. The hater going to hate lol...anyways Hyukoh Band is just great and I believe in their talents!

    @cutiepie79 No problem. I couldn't find any translation either, and I think it is important for international fans to hear Hyuk's words. He sounds very genuine, and I can never write as nearly as poetic as him, but his words needed to be heard.
