'Unpretty Rapstar's Yook Ji Dam reveals she was bullied in the past on 'Taxi'

Former 'Unpretty Rapstar' challenger Yook Ji Dam shared a difficult part of her past, receiving mixed feelings from the viewers

On the April 1st airing of tvN's 'Taxi', rap female icons Cheetah, Jessi, and Yook Ji Dam appeared on the show and talked about their personal life stories as well as how they became rappers in the first place. �

Yook Ji Dam, the youngest of the three, commented on the rumors of being a school bully and how she gained interest in rap and hip hop. She said, "There is a song by Yoon Mi Rae titled 'Black Happiness'. It's about the difficulties that Yoon Mi Rae faced when she was younger because of her dark complexion. When I was younger, I had a darker complexion, and my friends would make fun of me because of that song. They would say that the song is meant for me.

She continued,�"We were young back then so they would say that I was from Africa, and they would turn on the song when I didn't want to hear it. I was supposed to react against the song [when the kids would play it], but honestly when I first heard the song, I had a mental breakdown [because it was so good]. It was the first time that I heard a song of that genre, and I searched for other songs that were similar."�

The female rapper continued to share her past stories as she revealed that she was bullied by her fellow classmates and even addressed the rumors of her being a school bully herself.�Yook Ji Dam said, "They locked me up in a bathroom stall that you could lock from the outside and poured dirty water on top of me. I would only be able to go out if the cleaning lady unlocked it for me. After such a thing, how could I be a school bully."�

After the airing, there were still some netizens continued to criticize Yook Ji Dam and accused of her lying about her past on the show. One commenter wrote, "School bullies fight and bully each other too. In that sense, she could have been a victim, but that doesn't mean she wasn't an attacker, right? Let's not erase all the wrong things that you've done in the past and pretend to be a victim."

However, others defended Yook Ji Dam, saying that the negative commenters don't have any hard evidence to back up their accusations.
