WBW: 1TYM - "One Love"

On today's Way Back Wednesday, we look back at one of my absolute favorite old school groups, 1TYM. Back when 1TYM (1 Time for Your Mind) debuted in 1998, most idol boy groups were much more pop and R&B based mixing in "English" raps almost to fill in the time. But members Teddy Park, Danny Im, Song Baek Kyung, and Oh Jin Hwan were the first to make hip hop the main platform for their music which included venturing into different sounds and genres which leads us to today's featured song, "One Love".

From their second album, the aptly titled 'Second Round', "One Love" was a softer, more R&B inspired ballad that got away from their rapping roots and showed their sensitive side (which they did skillfully throughout their career). The song featured the soft vocals of Danny (Taebin) who, from what I can remember from my college days, had all the girls in love with him after this song. "One Love" was able to hit the top of the charts this week back in 2000 and is one of their most remembered and loved hits.

It's been nearly eight years since the group last created an album and to my knowledge, there has never been an official announcement from the members or YG Entertainment of a break up. Teddy is a hit producer at YG, Danny is working as a host of his own program on Mnet, while Baek Kyung and Jin Hwan opened up their own curry restaurants. Although there have been rumors and speculation, it doesn't look like we'll ever have a 1TYM reunion anytime soon but... if it did happen, how cool would that be? Wouldn't you like to see them together just 1 more tym?
