allkpop TV Guide & Ratings (09/26 - 10/1)

allkpop's got a brand new feature specially geared towards the K-drama addicts! The 'allkpop TV guide and Ratings' will be a weekly featurethat spotlights three popular Korean dramas. It will discuss ratings for each week's episodes, as well as provide brief recaps (with spoilers, so watch out!) of shows that we know allkpop readers are enjoying. The three shows being recapped for this week are 'Poseidon' (with Super Junior's Choi Siwon), 'Protect the Boss' (starring JYJ's Jaejoong),and 'Can't Live with Losing' (withHallyu star Choi Ji Woo). -- ? Ratings Summary - Although it had a rocky start with its pilot episode, 'Poseidon' is steadily rising in ratings, an impressive feat considering how it faces strong competition fromSBS's 'Warrior Baek Dong Soo' (with Ji Chang Wook and Yoo Seung Ho) and MBC's 'Gyebaek' (with Song Ji Hyo, T-ara's Hyomin). While Poseidon has the potential to rise from its single digit ratings (7.0% and 6.2%), it faces a difficult task, as it must square off against two well-established historical dramas, both of which enjoy a large viewer base. As the story begins to unfurl and the action picks up, however, 'Poseidon' can look forward towards double digits soon. Meanwhile, 'Protect the Boss' was able to successfully conclude with high ratings, despite KBS's 'The Princess' Man' taking the crown. Though 'The Princess' Man" raked in a 21.9% rating, 'Protect the Boss' wrapped up with 14.2%, a respectable figure for a light-hearted romantic comedy against a historical Romeo-and-Juliet passion story. Finally, 'Can't Live with Losing' dropped down to a disappointing 6.1% rating, despite its double-digit figure last week. 'Deep-Rooted Tree' will air its pilot episode next week in place of 'Protect the Boss', and will star Shin Se Kyung, Jang Hyuk, Song Joong Ki, and Super Junior's Kim Kibum. === [SPOILERS BELOW]   !!!   ===   ? Poseidon (KBS)   Official Synopsis: Kim Sun Woo (Super Junior's Choi Siwon) spent his school days as a troublemaker, but decides to make a change in his life and joins the marine special forces team, aptly named 'Poseidon'. Sun Woo shines as a promising commando, but his career takes an unexpected turn when he becomes entangled in an unsavory incident. He becomes demoted, and gets transferred to a marine police office in Gunsan city. Sun Woo's passion for his job quickly cools down, and he slowly loses his vision as a marine police officer. One day, Jung Ryul (Lee Sung Jae) appears out of the blue, and offers Kim Sun Woo the opportunity to join his new crime investigation team in Incheon city. Will Kim Sun Woo be able to reclaim his destiny and fulfill his potential? - Recap of Ep. 3-4: Gang leaderPopeye immediately escapes after being captured by Kim Sun Woo and Kang Eun Chul (TVXQ's Yunho). He becomes a threat, more so after he kidnaps the hospitalized Eun Chul. Popeye gambles with Eun Chul's life, as they demand the release of an associate, Ah Dong Chul, for Eun Chul. While Coast Guard Team 9 hopes to save Eun Chul without giving into the blackguard's demands, an unexpected surprise awaits them. Meanwhile, Sun Woo and Soo Yoon (Lee Shi Young)become closer as a team, as they uncover the mystery of a dark society. -- ? Can't Live with Losing (MBC)           Official Synopsis: Eun Jae (Choi Ji Woo) and Hyung Woo (Yoon Sang Hyun) are both highly competent lawyers who fell in love at first sight without knowing each other's occupations; that happiness has faded, and they are now in the midst of their divorce proceedings. Their relationship was described to be sweet and loving at first, but their marriage slowly began to crack under their constant fights. Recap of Ep. 9-10: With the shocking ending of Hyung Woo's opposition to Eun Jae's desire for reconciliation, Hyun Woo firmly sticks by his position to protect Eun Jae's happiness and begins to prepare his divorce papers. While Hyung Woo and Eun Jae work together to file a divorce for Professor Go, the two can't hide their feelings for each other. They start to get closer once Eun Jae finally learns the secret behind the death of Hyung Woo's brother. -- ? Protect the Boss (SBS)                                 Official Synopsis: No Eun Seol (Choi Kang Hee) finally gets a job as a professional secretary at a large conglomerate after struggling with unemployment, only to fall in love with her boss, Cha Ji Heon (Ji Sung), the immature youngest son of a chaebol family. Finale (Episode 18): Ji Heon finally confronts his father and tells his father he is willing to give up the executive position of DN Group to live happily with Eun Seol, in which Eun Seoul adds she still loves Ji Heon. After much persuasion, the Chairman consents to their marriage. Ji Heon ultimately does not became the successor to DN Group, and creates hedge funds for his own company. Meanwhile, the mothers of Moo Won (JYJ's Jaejoong) and Na Yoon (Wang Ji Hye) get persecuted for tax evasion and secret slush funds. This upsetting event becomes eclipsed by the blossoming romance between Moo Woon and Na Yoon, which eventually leads to marriage. === Stay tuned for next week's edition of 'allkpop TV Guide & Ratings', as we introduce the first episode of "Deep-Rooted Tree"!
