Younha reveals that she doesn't like to act cute while singing

Younha's recent comeback has showcased more changes than ever before, and not only in her physical appearance. Her digital single, "One Shot," released on October 14th has already captivated listeners with its charming pop rock sound, direct lyrics, and impressive performance style. In an interview with Daily Sports, Younha revealed her thoughts on some of the different changes she went through and her future. Every album you've released was successful. What are you anticipating this time? "The pressure is actually bigger than the anticipation. I've attempted a lot of bold changes this time so the pressure is twice as big. It's hard for me to calm myself since I'm as nervous as I was with my first album." You've showed off a lot of different genres. What style are you most confident in? "I like bright songs, but it's hard for me to smile while singing. I'm not a depressing person but I definitely can't force myself to act cute. There are so many other singers that look cute even without doing anything or trying, so I don't think I belong in that aspect. I'm just glad I don't have to act pretty this time." We heard that you were preparing a country-wide tour. "I'm going to have concerts in Seoul, Busan, and Daegu starting on October 30th. This is my first tour, but I'm excited that I'm going to be able to meet my fans." Do you have anything special up your sleeve for your concert? "Definitely my ensemble. It consists of the greatest bands and a lot of attention was put on the sound system. I want to share my joy with my fans. I hope to show off a different feel compared to Kim Jang Hoon and PSY seniors." You performed for the "All That Skate LA" ice show on October 3rd. "I was amazed seeing all of the athletes that I only saw through TV, Kim Yuna included. The audience was mostly American so I was afraid of receiving a lukewarm response but they reacted warmly so I was touched and proud. I felt like a representative athlete." Did you also go to the karaoke with Kim Yuna? "After the ice show, we did go to the karaoke. I didn't sing a duet with her or anything (laughter). It was my first time visiting one after middle school and we all had fun." You met Jo Sung Mo on SBS's "Strong Heart." You've always liked him, how did it feel? "It felt very welcoming meeting someone I've always respected. Unfortunately, we weren't able to exchange numbers. Should the opportunity arise, I'd like to perform a duet with him." Aren't you ever lonely promoting alone? "I feel lonely when I'm on the plane for long periods of time. I saw SM Entertainment artists flying on a chartered plane together and became highly jealous. I get jealous seeing other girl groups my age but I don't think I fit living with such a large group of people (laughter)." How's your college life? "I'm a Japanese language major at the Hankuk University of Foreign Studies. There are a lot of Japanese in my major so it's hard to receive a good grade. I've been interested in culture contents lately. It's a comprehensive study so it's hard, but I enjoy it." You're a singer songwriter. Did you ever write a song thinking of someone specific? "'To Wait' is one. I think it'll be a great gift to the person listening..." Are you dating? "No, it's not that I don't date, I just don't have the time since I must focus on my promotions / career." What kind of singer do you dream of yourself being? "I want to become a singer that sings in the same condition for a very long time. A singer with consistency and philosophy."
