A recent episode of�Mnet's�"Tent in the City" has caused a sensational controversy. Kim Kyeonga, or the "Korean Paris Hilton", was featured on the show boasting about her beyond-expensive collection of designer bags and other luxury items. She claimed that she had�"bought brand name items using hundreds of millions of won (roughly tens of thousands in dollars) that I received from my parents as allowance." This offhand statement sparked a flurry of negative responses, from simple criticisms of her arrogance to a full-out demand for a tax investigation. Ms. Kim later argued that, "All the comments about 4 hundred million won (roughly 40 thousand dollars)�worth of brand name items, etc. were lines I simply read from the script I was given by the writer on-set during the filming of the program." She continued,

"Even worse, the staff held up a board with 'total brand name items 4 hundred million' and told me, 'Say this'". "I usually buy a lot of brand names, but I don't go around spending hundreds of millions." "...I work as a model in Japan and earn tens of millions of won (approximately tens of thousands of dollars), but the writers told me that 'pretending to be unemployed and saying that I used allowance money from my parents to buy these brand names would be good'".

The PD in charge of the program, Min Jung-Sik, rebutted firmly against Ms. Kim's allegations. He asserts that,

"All the script said was that 'such a question would be asked', and there was no content trying to convince her to say or do what the staff wanted her to." "...A few days ago, while on the phone with Ms. Kim, she explicitly told us: 'I just said my everyday life as it is'".

On the 13th, at a cafe in Seoul, Ms. Kim agreed to an interview in an effort to clear her name. "Because of the controversy that came up after the broadcast, I don't know how I will live in Korea anymore. ...It was a controversy that was born out of the script that the writers wrote for me". Additionally, she�plans to charge Mnet for libel and the spreading of false information.
