On October 22nd, Mnet's Superstar K2 aired its final show of the season with the top 2 contestants John Park and Huh Gak. Earlier in the week, the contestants were able to gain confidence for their final show when they met their 3,000+ fans at their first fan meeting. For their final mission, the contestants were to sing two songs. While one song was to be any song of their choice, the second song was assigned to them. Last year, finalists Seo In Gook and Jo Moon Keun were given the same song, "Calling You," which was composed and written by�producer hitman Bang and 8eight's Baek Chan. Similarly, Huh Gak and John Park were given a song titled "Always" by composer Cho Young Soo. For their free choice songs, Huh Gak chose Kim Tae Woo's "Love Rain" and John Park picked Exhibition's "Drunken Truth." While many people predicted that John Park would win thanks to his large female fan base and good looks, in the end Huh Gak came out on top and was crowned this season's Superstar K. As a reminder, the cumulative scores are determined by the following scale: 10% on online votes received prior to the broadcast, 30% on the judges' scores, and the final 60% on viewers' text votes.�This week marked Huh Gak's first week at the number 1 spot on the pre-show online votes with 42,022 votes. As for John Park, he fell behind Huh Gak by 32,129 votes. Huh Gak's cumulative score nearly doubled that of John Park's.�Huh Gak had 988 points while John Park had 596 votes. During Super Week, John Park was eliminated when he forgot the lyrics to 2AM's "Won't Let You Go, Even if I Die" during the group audition challenge and Huh Gak was eliminated when he sang Park Jin Young's "Behind You" with John Park in their rival challenge. Luckily, both of them got second chances and were revived post-elimination. Congratulations to the two contestants for making it so far. We hope to hear great music from them in the future!
