Wonder Girls are #1 on the Billboard Year End Charts!

That’s right folks, Korea’s very own Wonder Girls, who took the world by storm with their ever-so-addictive hits, Tell Me, So Hot, and Nobody, have made it once again on America’s Billboard Charts, but, this time, as #1!

Last year, the girls made their U.S. debut by opening all summer for the Jonas Brothers and their nationwide tour, giving the girls exposure to the American public and young tweens. Since then, the five members have released an English version of Nobody and also a remix by widely-known DJ / producer / remixer Jason Nevins. In late October the girls made it on the Billboard Top 100, ranking at 76th place. However, their glory was short-lived as they fell off the charts after only a week.

Now that 2009 is over, Billboard.biz (branch of Billboard.com) wrapped it up and declared Wonder Girls and their track Nobody #1 on the Year End Charts Hot Singles Sales section, beating out big U.S. artists like Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Black Eyed Peas and more. You can check out the full results here.

Wonder Girls

Wonder Girls will be following up their U.S. debut with an American album next month so tune in! Until then, visit WG Spectacle for more on these rising stars!

  1. gee~ i really DONT understand those people who just cant accept that the wondergirls did well… although it may not be no.1 on the actual billboard top 100 or what ever its NUMBER ONE ON SINGLE SALES!! My gosh they beat MARIAH CAREY and THE BLACK EYED PEAS!! FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!! just congratulate them!!

  2. w.o.w. ^0^ good job!!!

  3. *applause* they’re good xD <33

  4. yes , it’s a tiny chart among hundreds of charts out there . But it’s still billboard n it’s legit . I wont call this a success but an achievement (not a huge 1 though) . The success lies on their debut album n we shall judge by then .. Just let us WONDERFULS celebrate this peacefully , PEACE !

  5. Wow, they are number one in physical single sales, in America where no one buys them. I bet Wonder Girls aren’t available anywhere else except in singles, so of course the only way to buy their single album is to buy the physical single. This chart is a tiny one amongst 500 plus charts. It’s really not that HUGE. In Albums, and on the Hot 100, (the ones that really mean something) Wonder girls are no where to be found. I would love Asian artists to have real success here. But Wonder Girls are still UNKNOWN. They are not mentioned, not that popular. Everyone in Korea and the 12 year old fan girls might think differently, but they are ignorant if they don’t check up on the real facts. Wonder Girls have a loooong way to go. Not hately, simply being realistic.

    This article is totally misleading.

  6. This title is misleading x.x

The list is at Billboard.biz, not the actual Billboard.com that made the list. (Should be noted in the post, since a lot of people are looking for them over at the other Billboard site and not finding them there.)

This quote from Billboard killed my enthusiasm -.-

“The Hot 100 Singles Sales (also known as Singles Sales) is a chart released weekly by Billboard magazine in the United States. It measures sales of commercial singles and is one of three component charts, along with the Hot 100 Airplay and the Hot Digital Songs, that determine the chart positions of singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. With the decline in sales of physical singles in the US, songs that become number one on this chart often do not even chart on the Hot 100.”

That ending bit killed my happiness
