Se7en Breaks Through BET, What’s Next?

UPDATE: Video of Se7en on BET’s 106 & Park is up!

Yeahhhh… our boy Se7en is starting to break through the clutter – we knew he would! I just got off the phone with the Se7en camp and we’ve got some breaking news!

Se7en’s music video “Girls, featuring LiL Kim” will premiere tomorrow on BET’s 106 & Park at 6PM (The First Asian Artist to ever have their MV Premiered on BET!). After the premiere, the music video will go into rotation on BET – So make sure to show support by going to BET.COM and requesting the music video, which should grab “Girls” a few more slots on the MV rotation.

In addition to the premiere of “Girls,” I’ve just received confirmation that Johnny Wright will be co-managing Se7en alongside Red Queen Media, to take Se7en to the next level. For those of you unfamiliar with Johnny Wright, he’s managed some of the biggest stars in America, including: New Kids on the Block, The Backstreet Boys, NSYNC, Janet Jackson, Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Stevie Brock, Ciara, The Jonas Brothers, and Menudo.

And finally… rumor has it that Se7en will be collaborating on a track with Justin Timberlake… so stay tuned to allkpop for more info!

  1. haha at first I was like “first asian..whut?” and then i remembered OH yea BLACK entertainment tv! hahaha! Go hard Se7en you got this!!! xD proud of you!

  2. wow nice too hear that se7en have his mv on bet

  3. I really cannot stand the idea of a Korean on BET.I just don’t trust them in anything they do or say. They’re selling our hair products and now we have to look at them on our best channel. Cheap and commercal and no depth. Thats your cheap Asian copy!
Have AA not learnt anyhting from the underhanded nature of the Korean takeover of the haircare industry. They are already rigging the voting on you network!

  4. I am a non Asian. I cannot understand why Aians pop fans are getting so excited and are resorting to excessive voting to make this guy appear to be more popular than he really is.I hope this in not going to be an Asian invasion, where Asians use African American talent as a stepping stone for their own gain. After watching the video, It was obvious his voice lacked the power, depth and range of real R&B singers, although his weak vocal range was disguised by LIl Kim and the background sound. The Korean music industry must have paid this guys way onto BET. He may be a one hit wonder-if that. We are bursting at the seams with original R&B singers who are 100 than Asian imitations like Sev7en.

  5. As much as I disagree with some of the Asian market trying to use African Americans as their initial consumer base, I can’t allow myself to lower to the standards of using “counter-racism” to fight it. In the end of it, innocent people are hurt in many ways. It wouldn’t be right to position myself as the culprit that “my people” had to fight against in order for us to have the same opportunities as them………..were the hell am I going with this??? Well, I guess I’m trying to basically lead to the point that, even though I won’t vote for Se7en just for the sake of making him the first Asian to make it in the American music scene, I’ll stand back and praise him when he does good, even though that doesn’t amount to shit! If he fails, you can’t say he didn’t try.

  6. @208 Obviously you’re the sad individual that doesn’t understand or accept that people have different views than you. I hear what you’re saying and I understand that you have your own view even if I don’t agree with it. Korean people this Korean people that. I’ve heard black, white, hispanic, and asian people all talk shit about everybody including their own race/ethnicity. My point is that I don’t hold what somebody else does on some random person just because they’re the same race/ethnicity. So obviously you don’t get what I’m saying so why don’t you try to step out of the tiny little box that you live in and look around at all the other billions of people in the world that are responsible for their own actions. If you feel believe so strongly with what you say then I’m sure that when any other race says something racist you feel the same way about the situation. You actually think that Se7en or other Asian artists aren’t facing discrimination or aren’t the target of racist comments? You think that they don’t feel hurt by it but move on? Just about everyone does or will experience racism/prejudice attitudes at least once in their lifetime to various degrees. Some may be blatant and some may be just rude. I’ve been a victim of racism/prejudice attitudes more then a handful of times and I don’t blame whatever race did it (because it hasn’t just been one). I blame the individual. That’s why I can sympathize with everyone since everyone can be a victim of racism. It’s why I don’t blame other people’s stupidity on someone who did nothing. I’m living in reality not a fantasy world. If I was living in a fantasy world I wouldn’t understand the concept of individuals being responsible for their own actions and decisions. Because I for damn sure know that I’m not gonna be blamed for what another person says just because they look like me. You keep saying they. It’s not “they”. It’s Se7en and what exactly did HE do have to pay for others idiotic comments? If you want to hate or tolerate those who do say racist/ignorant/ prejudice things then I completely understand but why blame it on those you don’t have anything to do with it? It seriously doesn’t make sense. If you’re not saying that all Koreans are racist then stop lumping the racist ones from the non racist ones by saying “they”ie:”they really look down on us and it is a pity” “the Korean community”"the people there do NOT care”.

  7. Jin’s video “Learn Chinese” was DEFINATELY on BET. I saw it on there some years back when I was a teenager. I’m sure his video was on there. Regularly. It just didn’t become super popular.
But I’m SO excited for Se7en! SOO excited! Hopefully, he will become big here in America! I don’t see why not, he seems to have a lot of American fans, and he’s definately capable of getting more.

  8. @207: Yeah, I guess most people on here would not understand anyway. Even that sad individual @202, who does not get one thing I am saying. I am not saying that all Koreans are racist. I’m saying that most serious-minded black kpop fans are not pleased with nonchalant attitude of the Korean community when their celebs make racist statements against black people. #202 is an example of someone who is not thinking enough and is living in a fantasy world. We mustn’t fool ourselves.
I am seeing too much of the “use and dispose of ” attitude from these people and it’s appalling especially when you’ve supported them, voted for them, whatever you’ve done. Of course this attitude is also shown to white people, whom a lot of Korean people appear to hate. At least that’s my impression after hearing the kinds of things they have to say. Anyway they really look down on us and it is a pity. But “karma”/”natural justice” as we call it, does not let people get away with things like that…people who use others will not be allowed to succeed forever. They cannot use BET and its viewers conveniently and leave them behind either. It’s completely wrong.

  9. @195: I agree with you so badly on that, you said that beautifully! If people understood the perspectives, people would understand you more. You know, you are right on that point, nobody said shit when Seungri said what he said, even with Tae Yeon and her sly little remark about Black females. Like you said, I even tolerated supporting Big Bang after Seungri said what he had to and I tried not to generalize a whole group of people. After awhile, that generalizing shit starts to fade away as soon as you realize that most of it was all a reality in the first place. You really try not to when it comes these situation, but it’s really hard to let your guard down. They don’t care about their black fans in America, they just want the support so they can bust down in the American scene. When I think of all of this, I think about how so many Asian businesses are running in predominantley African-American neighborhoods, to make money off of them, with products to cater to them, yet in the end, they (the majority) still see you as shit! As crazy as my point was, it’s how it really is. On the flip side, I can overlook the drama and tolerate it where I will still support some of these K-pop celebs.

  10. Remember, there is NO LIMIT on how many times you can vote!So vote your hands off lol.Make sure you buy “Girls” on itunes too.Keep supporting Se7en!

There’s no limit on how many times you vote.Let’s get his video on the countdown! Also, buy his single on itunes!

  12. @202: I agree with what you had to say as well. Probably cause it’s similar to what I said lol. I also respect that sapphire has her own opinion even if it doesn’t sound like it. I have respect for people that won’t resort to name calling when arguing their opinion the way both you and she did. To me it’s more of a debate than argument. Good stuff.

  13. ahhh such greeat news for him~ it’s great to see he’s doing so well over here. :D <33

  14. I Agree With @200 Does Have A Point Did You Ever Hear SE7EN Say Anytthing Like That I Sure Havent And No One Is Asking You Or Others To Tolerate These Things Aswell If Someone From Another Race/Ethnicity Then Generalize That Race/Ethnicity That Is Really Disrespectful To Say Espcially That He Is Going To Fail But Excuse Me But Do You Know The Future If You Dont Say Nothing None Of Us Know If Hes Gonna Break It Into The US Market So Dont Say Things Like He Doesnt Stand A Chance Because For All You Know He Could Make It Big Just Because A Korean Celebrity Said Something Like That Which Honestly I Havent Heard Anything Like That Before Doesnt Mean Every Korean Celebrity Is Like That Nor Try To Say Your The One Who Sees The Bigger Picture Of It All When In Truth You Probably Dont Know What Your Talking About And Dont Speak For An Entire Ethnicity This Is Your Opinion Instead Speak For Yourself And Not Others. Dont Speak For A Race I Understand Its Your Opinion But Say Dont Say Things Like That As For SE7EN Not Getting Any None Asain Votes You Dont Know I Voted For Him And Im Not One Bit Asain Im Hispanic And I Cant Speak For All The None Asians But I Know Some People Who Arent Asian Who Are African American White Hispanic Who Are Voting For Him. Anyways Good Luck To SE7EN And I Wish Him All The Sucess He Can Get XD <333 Sorry If I Offend Anyone Because I Really Dont Mean To Do Its Just Something That Should Be Said :( Hope Everyone Has A Good Day XD And Support The Other Artists That Are Trying To Break Into The U.S Market Its Refreshing Seeing Other Ethnicitys In This Music Industry XD
