Girls’ Generation react to Pumashock Video
Girls’ Generation / SNSD was featured on a short segment on the February 18th edition of SBS News. The Girls were shown the video of the now infamous Pumashock remix. They said it was the first time watching the video and that they were very surprised. The girls liked the R&B remix feel that she put into the song.
It’s pretty cool that they actually saw a video uploaded on youtube by someone halfway across the globe. Thanks to tj.happy for the tip.

The supposedly racist statement of Taeyeon was used against her unfairly. First of, do not use your American standard of racism on her. Think about it, Asians are generally “brainwashed” that whiter or fairer skin is more beautiful than brown or darker skin. What Taeyeon said about Alicia Keys is actually a compliment in an Asian (by Asian, I’m thinking South East Asian, more of Filipino, and maybe in Korea as well) point of view.

Judging from your comment, you don’t seem to know much about SNSD. The girl beside Taeyeon is Jessica, and as someone pointed out earlier, thats her “default face” lol. She always looks coldhearted like that, but she doesn’t mean to be.
And also, everyone was acting pretty normal with the exception of Taeyeon, who seemed pretty tired or sick. Im sure everything I’ve said has already been said, so next time please look at SOME of the previous comments before making such quick assumptions. It’s only fair =)

the girl next to taeyeon her attitude seem like whatever towards the video. i glad that they showed us what they’re really like and not just acting to like something. this shows us their real face. @ 0.34 seems like the girl next to taeyeon scoff while watching the video… that was rude.

people are so bias that they want to believe shes racist. In my opinion, she was already upset/unhappy prior to watching the video. as you can see on 0:28 of the video, they just started to play the clip and instantly the camera went towards snsd, and as i stated, tae yeon was already wiping her eyes.

im a big snsd fan, actually a huge taeyeon fan. but, as for this issue. i hope that this thread will somehow trigger a big fuss in korea so that they would at least interview taeyeon regarding her true feelings about the video.

@heythere: nate come to DBSK before the performance stage. If you see the after show where nate come and say good job to them after the performance they all good and shake hand. Smile and happy.. Nate already state in his blog that the boys just confused, and a little bit nervous before the show.

I actually really hate Pumashock’s version of Gee now.
I liked the first listen and then it just went downhill from there.

It seems were are entering (or have entered) the era of new type of fascism, where everybody who does not openly cheer to a black singer will be considered a racist, will be condemnded, and publicly executed.

The cover was pretty cool and the singer sang it pretty well. She’s quite talented. I’m glad SNSD got to see her cover. So many “It’s overrated!” comments… Anyway, I prefer the Gee (Rock ver.) better. :P And about Tae Yeon, I hope it’s not gonna be a big deal. She did not look pissed or shocked to me. Just tired. Maybe that’s why she sat down? And it’s also the day she got hurt right? Anyway. We could try and find tons of reasons, but instead we should just forget about it.

I agree with noel & sLaVe, it really is unfair to judge Taeyeon without basis — she looks more tired than pissed here.
I do believe the ‘Alicia comment’ was borne more out of ignorance than racism. Most Asians -do- have that bias, even my grandparents want me to ‘mingle more’ with other Asian kids — it’s just the culture in which they had been raised.
Why do you guys focus on the fact that shes black, and is she even full black because she looks mixed.

Actually who regard it as racist on the first place? Asians? Whites? its the blacks. and why? because they came from a society and culture where racism is a serious matters. i really felt that Pumashocks cover really shocked everyone…to say…her cover was just ok…it really made me sleepy…it was boring…no type of emotion…it was just like words flowing in there air and falling really fast….and with the reactions of taeyeon and jess…i kinda felt the same…it just happens…we see things and we judge if we like it or not and respond to it…its not because Pumashock is black or anything its just something that wasnt very impressive…overall i think all of you people jumping to the conclusion saying that taeyeon was being racist and all…dont look at her lable her like that…look at yourself and think of what you guys are doing…u guys gotta open up your eyes more and not just assume by body language or BS like that…we’re all not perfect nor is SNSD…but we try…we try to be our best to accept it and move on with the world…so i think all of you guys have a problem with racism
