Hunan TV Remake of Boys Over Flowers Is A Fraud
It was revealed today that the chinese remake of Meteor Garden, an adaptation of the best-selling manga Boys Over Flowers by Yoko Kamio is most likely a fraud.
Japan publisher Shueisha, Inc. who holds the rights to the popular manga had inked an agreement with Group Eight beforehand stating that no adaptations of any kind can be made after them in the next 2 years. A Group Eight representative said today, “When we signed the contract with Shueisha, Inc., it was stated clearly that after our Korean adaptation, there will be no more drama adaptations of the manga within the next 2 years.”
Although Boys Before Flowers originated from Japan, it was first made into a drama by Taiwan in 2001 with the resounding success bringing a sequel 2 years later. The Japanese drama adapation followed in 2005 with a sequel and a live-action movie in 2007 and 2008 respectively. All came away with resounding success. Boys Before Flowers is thus labelled by many to bring success to anyone associated with it.
Two years later in 2009, the word that Korea will also be filming their own adaptation generated much interest within the nation and overseas. To protect the value of the manga and the Korean adaptation, Shueisha, Inc. had decided on withholding the rights to prevent others from filming an adaptation of the drama within the next 2 years.
But lately, there was news that Hunan TV together with Days Entertainment Company will be producing a chinese adaptation of Boys Before Flowers and has generated a lot of interest with all the casting, etc already finalised. Filming is expected to commence soon. Many fans are however very unhappy because of the drastic changes made to the story. But with the latest statement by Group Eight today, they are properly doing the right thing.
Group Eight and Shueisha, Inc. expressed that they will be keeping a close watch on the China remake in case their copyright gets violated.

Two Words, Not Right. I Actually dont like Junpyo in the Chinese version. He Should Bee, ermm, the guy in the middle, and they “Junpyo” shouldn’t really act. he shouldn’t be Woo-bin also Japanese : Not So Nice Characters, Korean: AWESOME AND CUTE ONES! Chinese: i can only see two cute ones here :P
Who cares if the Chinesse F4 aren’t the best,I will totally watch this drama because they deserve a chance…maybe they have good acting skills and that will make this drama rock…i love the other 3 versions and i will love this version as well …i’m waiting for it and for Full Moon(twilight saga) to be released…:X..stop complaining and just watch it!^..^

Guys they really are filming this. It isn’t a fraud. I was actually at the shooting last night. It is taking place on Xiamen University campus. They were filming a scene with the guy in the purple suspenders in the last pic!!

And the korean guys looks the best and is the best of the other boys over flowers. The plots are more interesting than the other versions.

damn i do personally think that all these remakes are kinda annoying. &&besides; it’s not like all the F4 were good looking in the japanese, taiwanese, or korean versions. there’s always one or two in F4 that weren’t good-looking. and besides you don’t need to freggin’ bash china. that’s just plain bitchy.

japanese version is the best. korean version is draggy and boring for some episodes. taiwan version is even more boring with a lot of redundant parts. =.=||| I don’t mind a china version as long as the storyline is still good and they find someone good for Makino and replace some of the F4 and the overall packaging/costume/make-up.

they might not look so handsome for us (the chinese F4), but why dont we give them a chance to show what they’ve got. we are not gonna pay them to watch or something. Lets be fair, for me, If I am enjoying the Boys Before Flower now becasue i gave it a try and liked it, why NOT if the chinese make their own Version as well…
and if ever the Philippines would make their own version I am pretty sure it wouldn’t be as BIG as the F4 Korea or TAIWAN, I’m pretty sure of that.
