According to S-San’s Blog (a Japanese staff member for TVXQ/Tohoshinki/DBSK) the rumor that TVXQ has been blocked from Music Station was confirmed. On his blog he wondered why TVXQ was on Music Station’s #1 list this week, yet weren’t invited to perform. Music Station is a highly popular music show in Japan, similar to MTV’s TRL here in the states.
Rumors and conspiracy theories were created when TVXQ received many #1’s on both the Oricon Daily and Weekly charts, yet weren’t invited to the Music Station show. Almost every other artist who were in the top 10 let alone the artists who’ve reached #1 were invited to perform. Many people believe the reason for this is because Johnny’s Entertainment has a secret pact with Music Station. Some people think that TVXQ poses a threat to Johnny’s therefore the non-invites.
This is an unfortunate situation, but at the same time if the situations were reversed – I could see Korea doing the same thing to a Japanese artist. (thanks to Melissa & Sandra for the tip)

if arashi, kattun or news were to perform on inkigayo.. ehehe GOOD LUCK because SM is quite tight with SBS. It’s quite sad that johnny ent. had to resort to this level because everyone knows about it now and more people are probably going to support dbsg. I’m sure the boys in all these groups are neutral to this and are friends behind the scenes.
salfjk i forgot. WaT is a japanese boyband/boyduo and they still get to perform on Music Station. Any ideas about that?
I’d like to think that I’m unbiased here, since I listen to and like JE music and DBSK music about as equally. (Maybe I’m slightly biased towards JE because I’m japanese. Whatever. :/)
The thing is about Johnny’s Entertainment is that’s just the way Johnny rolls. He’s just a money hungry guy who is smart about his business choices. He markets his business out in the way that he can make more money.
Also, Johnny has a lot of influence over Japan. For example, (this is just a rumor but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was true) recently a magazine published an article about a johnny boy’s ~*~scandal~*~. Johnny didn’t take this very well and he kinda banned the magazine’s company from releasing anything related to Johnny’s ever again. This would be quite a hard hit for the magazine as they lose most of their market (aka teenage to who-knows-what-age fangirls/women).
It’s exactly the same for television. Everyone is scared of upsetting the guy because he’s basically the top guy in industry in Japan. Anything he says, goes. In every Japanese drama each season, at least all of them have one Johnny’s boy in it and they are the ones who garner the most ratings. Take Yuukan Club, which had three Johnny’s boys in it. They absolutely sucked at acting (except for one of them), but it ended up taking loads of prizes. If Johnny was keeping other boybands off, then the station would have to comply because they wouldn’t want no Johnny’s in any of their dramas, right?
But I’m not really fond of the way that people are dissing JE here (even though i am sort of doing it myself). They do work hard and apparently aren’t paid that well (because johnny is money-hungry after all).
I agree that DBSK has way more talent than JE. Their singing voices are much more superior and they have gorgeous voices, all of them. I mean there are some JE boys (take Akanishi Jin, Tegoshi Yuya, Shibutani Subaru and Ohno Satoshi for example) who have absolutely beautiful singing voices. But the rest of JE just can’t sing. Really. Except Johnny boys make up for it with their personality. And that’s why I can’t make up my mind on which I like more. :D
Anyway, I’ve written so much that I don’t even remember the point that I was trying to make anymore. :/ Basically lets just all hate on Johnny.
i always KNEW there was something wrong with THSK never going on music station. i mean, they appear in all the other big music variety shows like heyx3 and music fighter and such. i knew it i knew it i knew it! i mean, i like the johnny’s boys, but i really hate the way johnny kitagawa does business. it’s dirty.
`They should get banned. Their music is just terrible.
Music Station belongs to JE so don’t expect to see DBSK in there.
The situation with boybands in Japan is really sad, JE dominates almost all the media and their boys are treated like slaves and molested by this horrid pedophile called Johnny Kitagawa.
JE boybands sell so much (I don’t think they see the money however) and are really famous but they have to pay a big price for that.
Cause I openly listen to both. Major fan of KAT-TUN and TVXQ here speaking. (My #1 is BoA.)
As for MS banning TOHO, all I gotta say is some of you need to wake up and realize it’s not about the music ok? Hohoho… IT’S MONEHHHHHHHH. KA CHING! lol.. money is the root of them all problems. Money, thus the “business tactic” or the euphemism, “protecting their interests/artists.”

Korea won’t even let foreign entertainers perform HALF as much as BoA and TVXQ did in Japan. So as a fan, I don’t know where to get the audacity to comprain about Japan. I’m already damn happy they get to even go to Japan cause Korea’s music industry really…. erm pale in comparison, to say the least and to be polite. TVXQ has MAJOR, and I mean MAJOR talent, but them being in Japan, you have to recognize that JE holds the cards (promoting and so much more and I mean MORE, there’s too many to write about them and I don’t wanna write an essay), that’s why Johnny’s groups will always win against TVXQ when it comes to the charts… and as much as I love the service JE brings, honestly? Honestly? In my opinion? TVXQ ranks much, much higher.

JE most likely didnt even make any specifications about banning dbsk. it’s already an accepted rumored truth and its been in place for far longer than dbsk has been in japan. the ban isnt for dbsk only, they’re not that important, especially to JE. THE BAN IS FOR ALL BOYBANDS (accept, apparantly, EXILE). DBSK FALL UNDER BOYBAND.
the release date of their latest single, not the other way around. if anything, its avex/dbsk who’s scared to directly compete with JE. hey! say! JUMP doesnt even have the same of popularity the other groups have. truth hurts. accept it.

(forgot who), all’s fair in love and war so it should be the same for the music industry. it means anything goes no matter the methods. i about who comes on top. that makes the unfair tactics, well, fair game. and i believe there’s no need to insult other groups to make dbsk look good. it only tarnishes dbsk and their fans reputation even more. okay, i’m done. its longer than planned. sorry for the mult post, psp gives me a character limit.
especially when they dont much about the JE groups at all, much less listen to them seriously w/ an open mind. i used to be one of those who called them talentless just because of their agency. but i really listened to them and was proven wrong. those boys work hard and nonstop, just like dbsk does so dont insult them so readily, so easily. oh, as for the easy choreo, its done for the fans. its made easy so fans can do the movements in concerts and perfs. anyways, to paraphrase someone before…
